Placements 2008 saw 47 companies that revisited our cam-pus while 23 new companies participated in the process for first time. Each organization offered a mix of profiles and packages.

With batch strength of 239 students in PGDM and MMS this year, the average salary went up to 7.70 Lacs p.a., from the past year’s average of 6.73 Lacs p.a. The highest salary package was 9.45 Lacs p.a. while the median salary was recorded as 6.5 Lacs.

Among the 89 companies that were slotted for participation, 70 companies like HSBC, Care, HUL, Crisil Research, JP Morgan, Pidilite, Kodak, SBI, Deloitte, ICICI Bank, Tata Teleservices, Wipro, to name a few visited the campus initially and only 65 of them could get the students. New companies that visited this year were 23 with the likes of Barclays Bank, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., RPG Group, HP India Ltd, Mphasis, GE Shipping, Abbott (I) Pvt Ltd., Glenmark Pharma, Honeywell International, WeP Ltd., Irevna, IL&FS;, Vedanta and other reputed names. After having given a positive feedback, the first timers left content after giving the institute a positive feedback. They also expressed their willingness to strengthen their association with the institute in the years to come.

The Lateral Placement Week highlighted another breakthrough – 58 pc of the graduating batch had prior work experience while those having experience of 22 months plus qualified for the Lateral placement. This formed 26% of the entire batch. The Lateral Placements process confirmed that companies trusted our graduates with middle management roles and not just entry level jobs. Keeping in line with the trend, were the enhanced profiles offered, some of which were under the prestigious Investment Banking, Treasury, Equity Research fields. Other highly valued responsibilities included those of Senior Consultant, Senior Business Analyst, Brand Manager, and Product Manager to name a few.

The average salary offered this year was found to be equally distributed amongst the various streams – Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources and International Business saw their students walk away with comfortable packages.
