National Institute of Technology, Puducherry
National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY) is located in the basin
of river Kaveri in the Union Territory of Puducherry. It is one among the ten
new NITs. NIT-Puducherry does not have its own campus yet and hostel facilities
are provided by college in nearby private buildings. NITPY functions from a
temporary campus at Arignar Anna Govt. Arts and Science College, Nehru nagar,
Karaikal. An MOU signed with the Vinayaka Mission College and Hospital,
Kariakal provides medical support to the students.
Land for the
construction of the new campus had already been procured near village
Poovam(256 acres) from the government of Puducherry in Karaikal.
The foundation Stone Laying Ceremony was held on 27.02.2011. At present the
Science Block and Hostels for both boys and girls in the college campus are
under construction.
NITPY is part of the National Knowledge Network (NKN). The NKN is a state-of-the-art multi-gigabit pan-India network for providing a unified high speed network backbone for all knowledge related institutions in the country.
Studying at NITPY
Students are admitted to the college for B.Tech degree based on the marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination.50% of seats reserved for the candidates having residence/native at Puducherry Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam and the remaining 50% seats are filled on all India basis. Admission for masters degree is based on the GATE marks and admission is made through the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).

Life beyond the classroom
Innovation club is an interdisciplinary club which primarily focuses on collecting innovative and creative ideas from students and transforming them into worthwhile projects.
KNOSYS is a Technical Symposium organised by NIT Puducherry. SPREEE It is an Annual Technical symposium organized by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
