Never thought a computer engineer would fall in love with finance. Let me take you through a journey which has helped me build my personality and become a lot more structured and efficient person than I was a year ago. Hailing from Mumbai I was always surrounded by busy streets, pollution and concrete jungles. On the contrary, here at NIBM I found what I always wanted, “PEACE”! The campus is as beautiful as it can get. With 60acres of lush greenery, it provides a perfect ambience if one seeks to live in the arms of nature. Simply stated, it is BLISS! Finding your passion isn’t just about career and money but it’s about finding your authentic self, the one which sprouted here, my love for finance. NIBM offers a specialized PGDM course in banking and financial services which caters to the need of not only the banking sector but also other segments of the financial services industry, meeting the needs of credit rating agencies, payment systems, financial consulting & advisory and treasury operations. There is no doubt that NIBM widens the scope of opportunities by offering in-depth knowledge in the domain of banking and finance.

A good teacher is one who can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill the love for learning. I’m thankful to my professors, at NIBM, for inspiring me to be curious and learn new subjects like Economics, Risk Management and Econometrics. The faculty members are very knowledgeable and actively work with the RBI and the banking sector on live projects. So we get practical exposure along with in-depth theoretical knowledge from them. Guest lectures from MDs, Directors, top executives from RBI and other renowned banks also add to our wisdom. For instance, our orientation session was by the Hon’able Dy. Governor of RBI, Dr. Viral Acharya, who spoke on various problems in the global banking sector and how to deal with them.

Over time, we, the first year students at NIBM, have learnt through knowledge transfer, concept building and skill and personality development, which fetches us opportunities at organizations like HDFC Bank, SBI, AXIS Bank, SAS, RBS and the big 4 firms. We have also benefited from the strong alumni base at NIBM. Being a fresher, experiencing a summer internship will be an exciting experience for me especially when it is at a firm like SAS which is ranked 37th globally in the fortune’s top 100 companies to work for.

Apart from studies, we celebrate every festival in harmony and engage ourselves in different activities. We have events throughout the year like quizzes, case study competitions, Alumni meet and festivals like Janmashtami, Diwali and Christmas which binds us all together. Looking forward to new faces to join NIBM this year, so that we can have a wholesome experience together, which we can cherish throughout our lives.
