Manipal University

Manipal Academy of
Higher Education, known as Manipal University is a deemed university located
in Manipal, Karnataka, India. In 1953, T.M.A. Pai founded India’s first private
medical school, Kasturba Medical College and five years later the Manipal
Institute of Technology was formed. The
current institute was formed in 1993, when Manipal University was accorded
deemed university status. It has over 28,000 students from 52 countries. The
university has branch campuses in Bangalore, Mangalore, Sikkim, Jaipur, Dubai,
Malaysia and Antigua.

There are 7 hostels for
men and 13 for women. The campus covers 313 acres of land. The campus is
divided into two areas: the healthsciences campus and the engineering campus. The
campus is fully networked with wi-fi. The campuses have playgrounds and courts
for cricket, hockey, football, tennis, basketball, badminton and volleyball. There
is a gym and an athletics track. The indoor sports complex in Manipal has
badminton courts, basketball courts, squash court and an indoor jogging track
along with a gym and a sauna. Most banks have a branch at Manipal.

Some of these are: Mafia Music and Fine
Arts Club, Aanina Club-2003, Red-X, Leo Club, etc. Sportz Quake is the sports festival held
on campus.

sectors through its placement cell. Some regular recruiters are Cognizant,
Satyam Computers, Patni Computers, Keane, Covansys, ITC Infotech, Aztec, Volvo,
Honda Motors, Samsung Engineering, L & T, Hindustan Unilever, etc.

Notable alumni include CEOs
of global technology giants like Satya Nadella of Microsoft and Rajeev Suri of
Nokia, as well as Michelin starred celebrity chef Vikas Khanna. Journalists
