Dear Readers,

This year, admissions to engineering courses in various universities of Gujarat would be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the JEE Main 2015. Till last year, these admissions were done on the basis of performance in the GUJCET. In this series of article, we take a look at last years’ cutoffs (maximum ranks) for admissions to these courses. Do note that these cutoffs are on the basis of the GUJCET. These articles would give you a fair idea of the likely selection requirements for these courses this year.

Overview of the GUJCET:

The Gujarat Common Entrance Test, which is popularly known as GUJCET, was conducted for entry to various professional degree courses in the state of Gujarat. Several universities of Gujarat used to give admission to students in courses related to medicine, engineering, dentistry and pharmacy on the basis of their performance in this exam. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar conducted the GUJCET every year.

Engineering aspirants taking the GUJCET needed to answer a total of 120 questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The question paper was available in English, Hindi and Gujarati. The 180-minute examination consisted of multiple-choice questions only. Each correct answer was worth one mark and there was no negative marking.

Lukhdhirji Engineering College: The institute was established in 1951 and is located in Morbi. The college is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University. The institute is located in 40 acres sprawling campus.

This college offers undergraduate programs in Chemical engineering, Production engineering, Power Electronics, Mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, Civil engineering, Information Technology and Electrical engineering.

The departments of Production engineering,Industrial engineering and Information Technology admit 30 students every year while the departments of Chemical engineering, Power Electronics and Mechanical engineering have an approved intake of 60 students per year. The departments of Civil engineering and Electrical engineering admit 120 students every year.

Last year, the maximum ranks (closing ranks) for various courses at this college were as follows:
