The coaching capital of the country, Kota will now be seen on celluloid as the trailer of the Hindi film, Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya came out featuring several popular locations around the city.

The trailer, which was released a couple of days ago on the internet and television, shows many locations around Kota, including Kishore Sagar Lake of Kota, Jag Mandir – a heritage building in the middle of the lake, Seven Wonders Park having replicas of the 7 Wonders of the World, Government Janaki Devi Bajaj Girls’ College road, transport bus of Kota, and Ghatothkach Circle of Kota among other places can be seen.

Hindi films are often shot in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer and a few other cities of Rajasthan and now, Kota city is the latest entrant in the league of cities of Rajasthan where Hindi films and television serials are being shot.

Hindi films including Machis, Jab We Met and some small budget films like Kota Junction and Bhanwari were shot in Kota but the Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhat starrer Badrinath ki Dulhaniya has more scenes of Kota City than previous films. Badrinath ki Dulhaniya was shot around Kota in September last year, and will release on March 10 this year. Coaching students and other youngsters, who had seen the shooting of the film in the city now eagerly await the film’s release in theatres. A student, Vijay Kumar said that he had seen the trailer of ‘Badrinath ki Dulhaniya’ in which several locations of Kota can be easily identified, be it the chimneys of Kota Thermal Power Plant or Jag Mandir. Another student, Divya Shah added that she is waiting for the film’s release.

Subhash Soral, who runs his home productions titled ‘Payal Productions’ in Kota, is the local line producer of the Badrinath ki Dulhaniya’. He said that Kota is unexplored territory for filmmakers as films have been shot in other parts of Rajasthan, but only a few films have been shot in Kota so far. “Badrinath ki Dulhaniya could pave the way for more films being shot in Kota,” he added.
