More women are showing interest in architecture and engineering courses as indicated by the increase in the number of applicants for the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) – Main January 2020 exams. Compared to the last year there are about 15427 more women applicants who have applied for engineering entrance this year.

Also for the first time, the NTA (National Testing Agency) has opened registration for General EWS reservation for which 81413 applicants have registered, which is close to the number of SC candidates taking the exam.

Overall, there are a little 9.34 lakh candidates who have registered for the first of the 2 JEE main 2020 engineering exams, while 1.38 lakh candidates have applied for JEE (main) 2020 planning/architecture test for 2020 January exam. The total number of test-takers has marginally increased, especially for architecture admissions this year.

In contrast, the male candidates for engineering tests have decreased by over 20000 this year. The number of ST and SC candidates taking engineering test has also reduced. In all, for architecture and engineering, a total of 11.18 lakh candidates have registered for the 2020 January exams as compared to 11 lakh in 2019 January exams.

How to apply:

The candidates applying for the JEE Main exam 2020 can follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the link provided as fill the online application form.
  • Enter the details asked for new registration.
  • By logging in, with the application number and password, the candidates can fill the online application for JEE 2020 exam.
  • Upload the photo, sign as prescribed in the format.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • Click on the submit button on the screen.
  • Download and take a print out of the JEE Main 2020 exam of application for future use.
