INSEAD, renowned as the Business School for the World, embarks on a new era as Professor Francisco Veloso commences his tenure as Dean of the institution.

Commenting on his first day at INSEAD, Professor Veloso says: “It is a privilege for me to begin my journey as the new Dean at this outstanding institution which truly brings together people, cultures and ideas to develop responsible leaders. Throughout my career, I have deeply appreciated INSEAD’s rigour and relevance in teaching and research, as well as the unrivalled diversity and entrepreneurial spirit, which have forged a global community who transform business and society. Professor Veloso assumed the role of Dean at INSEAD in April 2023 after serving as the Dean of Imperial College Business School from 2017 to 2023. Prior to his tenure at Imperial College, he held the position of Dean at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics in Portugal.
Hailing from Portugal, Professor Veloso is a distinguished authority in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation, earning recognition from government and policy circles. He served as an advisor to both the Portuguese Government and European Commissioner Carlos Moedas, providing invaluable insights on innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial development. Additionally, he holds trusted advisory and board member roles in numerous startups and established companies.
Professor Veloso succeeds Professor Ilian Mihov, who served as Dean of INSEAD for ten years. “I have no doubt that INSEAD has a bright future under Dean Francisco Veloso. And knowing the spirit of the INSEAD community, I am assured he will receive the same unwavering support they have shown me over the past decade,” says Professor Mihov.
