In the past one week, ardent fans of the sport ‘cricket’ were compelled to witness events that have produced a number of inconsolable victims -hearing the news about the announcement of retirement by a man, who has created records that are unreachable and almost impossible to target for or to surpass them. He has created inextricable bonding not only with the sport, for a period close to 24 yrs, but also with the people who have lived the sport with him.

In fact,at the start of an year I always used to look out for the list of matches India is going to play for an annual year. But,this year I fear to do it. As,we know the series with West Indies is going to be the end of an era marked with classic ‘text-book’ shots!.

But this is how any game is ought to be. This very moment I only believe in one thing change is inevitable and I console myself with this attitude and move on.

Although we have a bunch of young talent in our country, we have rarely seen people who have mastered the game. Hope our country would be able to produce many such legends in the near future. Since I am already drenched with tears on recalling the legend, would love to put my pen down.

Love the memories!!

Regards,

Sandy!
