Srinivas Bhoguraju, the PhD student of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) may not have gone for the trek alone, unconfirmed sources of the Karjat police said. The Dhak Bhairi trek near Karjat, in Raigad district of Maharashtra is difficult to trek, but no incidents of people ‘Missing’ have been reported earlier.

Local tribal had reported about an unbearable stench from the higher reaches of Sandshi hills, a path that they often use. On Friday December 11, 2015 a Police search team located an unidentified body that was decayed beyond recognition. An IITB identity card was found on person suggesting that the body was of Srinivas. His father has requested that a DNA profiling be done so as to confirm the identity.

B. Srinivas had gone to Karjat near Mumbai for the trek alone on October 25, according to his friends.

The body has been sent for post mortem and the report is awaited.
