This is a cricket ground at IIT Kanpur at 5.30 pm!
Students from 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are participating in the 51 Inter IIT Sports meet at IIT Kanpur (IIT-K) from December 12 to 19, 2016. And students from IIT-M who are to participate in the cricket event reached IIT-K on December 9, and were shocked to witness such vagaries of the weather. “Back in Chennai, 5.30 pm is still evening and nice and bright. We were just not expecting this,” said Saurabh, who is part of the IIT-M contingent that are at IIT-K for the cricket event. “In fact, when I saw how dark it was I raced straight for the dining hall thinking it is dinner time,” added Saurabh. “In the name of warm clothing, I am glad we have the institute tracksuit, else I would had to beg and borrow it from other students,” he continued.
Over time, and in the next few days, Saurabh and his teammates got used to the dark skies at 5.30 pm and learned to head for a cup of coffee instead of dinner.
