‘Entrepid’, ‘Insuris-the insurance simulation game’ and ‘The Entrepreneurs Talk’ represent Fire, the symbol of passion, courage and the relentless spirit. Feel the energy as ideas crackle, burn and are sometimes reduced to ashes as ordinary people blaze into the entrepreneurial scene creating dreams fueled by ambition and extraordinary insights. ‘Entrepid’ is where you start from scratch, conceptualize, beat the competition to build your own empire while ‘The Entrepreneurs Talk’ is a series that allows management students to get up, close and personal with those who have chosen a different path and created a niche for themselves in the business world.

Earth represents the unshakable foundation, the source of all knowledge and life. It celebrates the strength of a solid theoretical foundation, the victory of the one who learns from his predecessors and builds on it to reach new heights. That somber understanding of concepts and practicalities are what events such as ‘Papyrus- The Paper Presentation Contest’ and ‘Cerebrate-The Case Study Contest’ dig (pun intended).????
Water. Ever-changing. Ever-knowing. It represents flexibility, purity and sustenance demanded by events like ‘Invested Interest-the portfolio management game’ and ‘Bulls & Bears-the stock market simulation’. These encourage the participants to make their own roads, cut across difficult terrains much like a tenacious brook would.

Communication cuts across borders and cultures – much like air, that transcendental, free and universally connecting medium. As winds of change sweep the power corridors, IRIS concocts its own microcosms, with games like ‘Marksman-the marketing strategy game’ and ‘Meet the Press’ giving you a whiff of the influence of communication.

However, exciting as much this all may seem, it’s at Ashwamedha, the flagship event of IRIS that all these elements swirl together and push up the benchmark in search of the real leader- the only one with the perfect blend of the personality attributes and management acumen that separates the leaders from the followers. . With a prize money of Rs. 1,00,000 for the ultimate warrior alone, Ashwamedha is an event where the winner takes it all.

This game is designed as a war of attrition in which the participants get filtered over a number of rounds. This year the game will be held in two stages. The first stage comprising of an Online Leadership Quotient (OLQ) test had 700+ people from 26 top B-Schools in the fray and only 150 could make it to second round of case study. The result will be used to shortlist the participants for the final round, which will be held across two days at the IIM Indore campus and will consist of a series of battles that aim at testing the mettle of the one who seeks to be crowned the emperor.

These aren’t the only avenues for experiencing the electricity at IRIS. There is iRising and the informals to look out for. iRising starts as an online bonanza of quizzes, puzzles and crosswords. Informals showcase games like ‘Bounty Hunter’, the treasure hunt that makes you explore the cryptic innards of IIM-I, ‘Slide Rulz’, a fun event where you present someone else’s presentation impromptu and ‘Potpourri’, which is literally that – a potpourri of anything and everything under the sun like cricket, badminton, face-painting, egg catching and so on. The biggest crowd puller remains ‘Live Wire’ – a rock show that’s featured India’s biggest talents like Parikrama and Indian Ocean. Euphoria is performing for the first time in Indore as a part of IRIS 2005.
