At SOIL we take pride in the virtues the school stands for, and the willingness the SOIL fraternity displays to bring about a positive change, the very basis of the formation of the school edifice. Amongst other things, the school provides students wonderful opportunities to be harbingers of this change in the society.

So, in continuance with our quest for a better world, we participated in a “Do Not Honk” campaign on 29th July near the Huda City Centre metro station. The campaign was launched by one of the partner NGOs of the school, Earth Saviors Foundation, and the owner of the NGO, Mr. Ravi Kalra, too was present alongside us, sincerely dedicated to the cause.

As part of the campaign, we took to the streets, educating people in cars, auto rickshaws, buses and motorcycles about the hazards of unnecessary honking. We pasted stickers urging drivers “Do Not Honk” and exhibited placards, pleading drivers not to honk unless absolutely necessary. The local people seemed to understand the cause for which we were participating: most cars had our stickers pasted on the backside of their cars by the time they crossed us, knowing much of a deterrent to honking this works as.

An estimated 700 stickers were used up in the campaign, a clear indicator of the resounding success of the campaign, the efforts of the students and the whole campaign team.

Hard work, they say, pays rich dividends!

A gentleman who went by the name of Mohandas Gandhi once famously suggested an elixir: “Be the change that you want to see in the world”. At this little place in bustling Gurgaon, some people are surely following his preaching religiously!
