1. Govt. &
RBI sign agreement to keep inflation below 6%

i. The government and the Reserve Bank of India
have signed an agreement on Monetary Policy Framework.

ii. According to the agreement, the
government has set a target for RBI to bring down inflation below six per cent
by January 2016.

ii. As per the agreement, If the RBI fails to
meet the target, it will have to report to the government the reasons for the
failure to achieve the target, what remedial action it proposes to take and
estimate of the time period within which the target would be achieved.
iii. The agreement will put in place
a framework of a modern monetary policy to meet the challenges of an
increasingly complex economy.

iv. According to the agreement, this framework
will be monitored by the RBI.

v. The Agreement, in line with the recommendations
of the RBI’s Urjit Patel committee, will smoothen the monetary policy scene.

2. Kathmandu-Varanasi
bus service to take off from Thursday

i. The Government of Nepal and India has decided
to launch a direct bus service from Kathmandu and Varanasi from Thursday.

ii. After Kathmandu and New Delhi bus service, this
will be the second bus service between Nepal and India.

iii. According to the government officials, there
is no direct service of rai, air, and bus till now, but with the launching of
bus service between two cities will make a significant contribution in
promoting religious tourism on both sides.

3. Airtel partnered
with China Mobile

i. Indian
telecom giant Airtel has partnered with China Mobile, to work towards the growth of the long term evolution (LTE)
ecosystem and evolving mobile technology standards.

ii. With this deal, both the companies will also work
towards shaping up a joint strategy for procurement of devices that include
Mifi, smartphones, data cards, LTE CPEs and USIM.

4. PM to inaugurate
two Thermal Power plant in MP

i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two
units each of 600 MW of the Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant in Khandwa
district on March 5.

ii. He will also lay the foundation stone of two
units each of 660 MW of the same power plant, Nanawati said.

iii. Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant is a
coal-fired project located near Dongaliya village in Khandwa. The project is
owned by MPPGCL.

5. Australia lead
in latest ICC ODI ranking

i. In the latest ICC ODI rankings, Australia
have maintains its top positon with 120 points.

ii. India with 116 points ranked second and South
Africa is the third team in the ranking.

iii. Virat Kohli ranked fourth in the ranking,
which is followed by Shikhar Dhawan at seventh and M.S. Dhoni at tenth
position. A B Devilliers is the top batsman in the latest ranking.

6. IMF granted
$187 mn to support to Sierra Leone

i. The International Monetary Fund has granted
a 187 million dollars aid package for Sierra Leone in the wake of the Ebola
epidemic. The epidemic has killed more than 3,000 people.

ii. Sierra Leone will receive more than 80
million dollars immediately.

7. Bill Gates
richest person in the World: Forbes magazine’s annual list of world’s richest
people

i. According to the Forbes magazine’s annual
list of world’s richest people, Bill Gates is the richest person in the world
with net worth of 79.2 billion dollars.

ii. Mexico telecommunications tycoon Carlos Slim
Helu worth 77.1 billion dollars ranked second and Berkshire Hathaway Inc chief
Warren Buffett was third, at 72.7 billion dollars in the list.

iv. Facebook Inc’s Mark Zuckerberg joined the
top 20 and basketball star Michael Jordan plowed new air by making the list for
the first time.
v. The United States had the most
billionaires, with 536, followed by China at 213, Germany at 103 and India at
90.

8. Maharashtra
govt. banned Beef in the state

i. The Government of Maharashtra has banned
the beef in the state.

ii. Now any person found to be selling beef or in
possession of it, can be jailed for five years and fine upto 10,000 rupees.

iii. President Pranab Mukherjee has given his
assent to the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Amendment Bill 1995.

9. Roger
Federer lifted the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships

i. Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic by 6-3,
7-5 to win the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title.

ii. This was 126th ATP final for Federer of
which he had won 84th career title.
