Overall, based on the feedback received from students, the test was marginally easier than CMAT 2018. The test has remained on predictable lines with moderate changes in the difficulty level. Few surprises were part of Reasoning and Quantitative Ability Section, whereas Verbal Ability and General Knowledge were fairly as anticipated.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation (25 Questions)

Data Interpretation had a mere presence of 2 questions (Table, Pie Chart) and remaining 23 questions were from Quantitative Aptitude. Arithmetic had a share of 6 questions with a variety of questions from Ratio & Proportion, Time, Speed & Distance, Time & Work and Clocks. Algebra had a share of approximately 2 questions from Linear Equation and Inequalities. There were 7 questions from Geometry i.e. Triangles, Mensuration and Trigonometry. There was no presence of Profit & loss, Set theory, Logarithm, Defined Function, Simple Interest & Compound Interest and Data Sufficiency.

Overall, the section was easy to moderate. With Approximately 18-20 questions easy to solve, an attempt count of 22 can be termed good with a suggested time of 45 to 50 minutes.

Logical Reasoning (25 Questions)

The questions in this section varied from Visual Reasoning, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Series, Analogy, Odd one out, Arrangement to Verbal Reasoning.

Unlike past trend, in this year’s AR, very few questions from Arrangement and Puzzles. Verbal Reasoning had Statement Argument, Statement Conclusion, Cause & Effect and Assertion & Reasoning with 1 question each. Almost all the other topics had weightage of approx. 2 questions each.

There was no presence of questions from Data Structure and Decision making.

However, as compared to the other sections, this section still was the most time consuming one.

This section can be divided in two parts: Reading Comprehension based questions (15 Qs) and Verbal Ability based questions (10 Qs)

The section tested reading skills of the aspirants with 4 RCs, out of which one had 6 Questions and the other three had 3 questions each. 3 RC passages of three questions each were based on topics like Endangered Language, Parenting, Developed and Developing countries were easy to moderate. 1 RC passage of six questions based on Steve Jobs was relatively difficult, had inference based questions and had options that were very close.

The Verbal Ability comprised of 1 Para jumble, 3 questions on idioms and phrases, 3 questions on grammar and 3 questions on vocabulary. Vocabulary was tested directly in form on 1 synonym, 1 antonym and a word usage. Grammar remained traditional in asking questions in the form of Error Detection, Sentence Completion and Fill in the blank. Critical Reasoning and Strengthen /Weaken the Argument remained absent like last year.

Overall, the questions from this section were easy to moderate. With Verbal Ability a little less time consuming as compared to the past trend, an attempt of 18-20 can be termed good with a suggested time of 40-45 minutes.

General Awareness (25 Questions)

This year General Awareness section added a small relief to test takers by not testing on abstract topics like that of last year. General Awareness this year was a blend of static general knowledge and current affairs. This section had a spread of questions ranging from Planning Commission, GST, Banking and Finance, Sports, Science and Technology, Authors, Business and economy. A few questions that were tested were based on planning commission of India; who heads GST Council; Credit rating agency of India; NPCI full form; Member countries of SAARC; mode of online transfer; Indus Waters Treaty; full form of CRR.

Overall, 12-14 attempts can be termed as good attempts in a suggested time of 10 minutes.
