What’s the long-term goal of MISB Bocconi in Mumbai and why the PGPB represents a value-add program for students? Prof Stefano Caselli, MISB Bocconi Dean, answers these fundamental questions.

MISB Bocconi today represents the commitment for a long-term presence of SDA Bocconi in India. The conception of the school located in Mumbai aims to deal with a solid, innovative and concrete project, also respectful of the country culture. Solid because of the benefit of the wide and strong know-how of SDA Bocconi Faculty built through many years of teaching and research practice at international level with an Italian best flavour. Innovative for the idea to qualify the school as a dynamic bridge between students, faculty and corporations, continuously exchanging their energies, needs and experiences, being located in the very heart of Mumbai, following the idea of the “urban campus” as SDA Bocconi has been doing for forty years in the heart of Milan. Concrete because the value of the school is currently based, on a flagship single program (the PGPB) launched in 2012, to focus all the effort on one excellent course to consolidate year after year. Respectful of the country’s culture the educational project is based on the creation of a mixed faculty wherein, SDA Bocconi professors will work together with newly recruited Indian Faculty, in the Mumbai campus.

On July 8 2013, the Second Edition of the Post Graduate Program in Business (PGPB), which is a full-time program delivering top class management education, will start and will end in Spring 2015,after also a semester stay in Milan at Bocconi. The program is designed to build responsible, reliable and effective business leaders.It gives participants the chance to start a successful career or to enhance their work experience by nurturing personal growth and fostering professional development. It offers the experience, the international outlook and the multicultural environment essential for an international career in a global economy. The combination of theory and practice encourages students to have a creative and problem-solving approach; the international exposure educates them to succeed at a local and global level as well as to have a grasp over cultural intricacies. In a nutshell, the challenge for MISB is to educate people to combine strong Indian roots and Indian culture with a global view.
