About the Institute

Skyline Business School (Skyline) was set up in 1996 with an aim to become one of the leading business schools in the country, preparing young and responsible managers. Today, the institute, through its commitment and foresight, provides a state-of-art learning environment to its students and facilitate them in building a successful career.

Academic

Skyline offers graduate and post-graduate courses in business management with specialisation in finance, HRM, marketing, international business, and retail. The industry Integrated MBA program, affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, is offered on a regular mode. Some of the other courses offered by Skyline include professional courses in travel and tourism, journalism and mass communication. The institute also provides weekend MBA for working executives with specialisation in marketing, finance and HRM. The admission in the institute is based on academic performance of the candidate in qualifying entrance tests including CAT, MAT & ATMA followed by their performance in group discussions and personal interviews.

One of the core strengths of Skylines pedagogy is industry alignment. The curriculum offered focuses on development of leadership, analytical & problem solving skills, knowledge assimilation through academics, case studies, industry interactions, extracurricular & co-curricular activities, seminars and field assignments. The assignments and projects are designed such to incubate various managerial qualities including teamwork, independent working abilities and versatility.

Learning Resources

The institutes library has a rich collection of books and journals including about 9,000 volumes of books; CD- ROMs; video & audio tapes and 3,200 online journals. The library has large reading room space with multimedia PCs. The institute regularly compiles and disseminates extract information about new contents for faculty and students to derive maximum benefit from learning resources available. The institute also prepares updates and circulates three e-journals – Global Business, Talent Management, and Travel & Tourism.

Infrastructure

Skyline has a Wi-Fi enabled campus and the classrooms are well equipped with audio/video, VCD and LCD projectors. Skyline provides its students with various recreational facilities that include indoor games such as pool table, table tennis, chess and carom with a cafeteria and a snack bar. The outstation students are also provided with suitable hostel arrangements for comfortable stay.

Faculty

The institute has a well-qualified faculty having extensive experience in corporate consulting and training. Skyline has a faculty exchange program with Skyline University College, Sharjah, UAE; thus allowing them to share their insight and expertise with a wide audience through communication channels such as Skyline Updates.

Industry Academic Interface

Skyline lays lot of emphasis on industry interface. In addition to the eight weeks internship programme in the industry, the students are also sought by the corporate for their short term projects. Regular visits to factories are undertaken to get better understanding of various sectors. Further, participation in seminars with apex bodies such as CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM and NHRDN as well as inviting experts to the campus for knowledge sharing sessions is an integral part of curriculum.

Beyond Academics

Skyline students actively participate in various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities throughout the year. During the annual fest, students are active in a series of competitive activities such as ad-Mad show, skits, collage, painting, cartoon making, business quiz and debate to exhibit their talents. Skylines students actively participate in inter college events also. In addition, sporting events are conducted every year for indoor and outdoor games cricket, table tennis, chess, carom and pool table in order help students develop a well rounded personality.

In order to sensitize the students towards social and development sector, a social sector project has been introduced as a compulsory activity. The project involves an appreciation study of social sector and a visit to an NGO to understand the working of the NGO. Skyline believes such projects inculcate a sense of responsibility in students towards society.

Placement

Skylines corporate relationship division manages summer and final placements. Various companies from diverse sectors such as hospitality and tourism, IT & ITES, finance, consulting sector have been recruiting Skylines students. Some of the companies that have recruited the students are COPAL Partners, Capital IQ and McKinsey from corporate research sector; British airways, Amadeus and Carlson Wagonlit from tourism sector; ESPN and Oxford University Press from media & publishing sector; and American Express, Deutsche Bank, Indiabulls from banking and insurance sector. Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland, Educomp, Parle, WIPRO, and GPI (Ispat Group) are some other companies that have recruited the students in 2009.
