IMT-Ghaziabad wins Dainik Bhaskar b-school leadership awards

IMT Center for Distance Learning(CDL) was honoured with the Best B-school in Distance Learning’ award at Dainik Bhaskar B-School Leadership Awards ceremony held in Mumbai on 12 February,2010.

IMT Ghaziabad received the Best Industry-Related Curriculum Award and ‘Innovation Leadership Award’ given by DNA.

Dr A M Sherry, Director, IMT-CDL received the awards from the Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y Thinley in the presence of Dr V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Chairman of Distance Learning Council, Government of India.

The B-School Leadership Awards announced by Dainik Bhaskar in late January has received an overwhelming response with over 100 entries from across the country. The awards were announced on February 12 2010 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. This is an initiative of felicitating Business Schools for creating leaders who are playing a crucial role towards the advancement and development of our nation has been crafted in a unique manner. There are over 22 categories which have been created in order to honour the B-schools in every aspect.

NITIE: Annual convocation ceremony held

On February 13, 2010, the lush green campus of National Institute of Industrial Engineering honoured the graduating class of students at the XV Annual Convocation ceremony.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India.

This year, a total of 214 students from the four post graduate batches of Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Industrial Safety & Environmental Management and Information Technology Management received their diplomas in the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest and other eminent dignitaries including Shri Adi Godrej – Chairman of the NITIE Board of Governors, Dr Subhash D. Awale – Director of NITIE and other Board members along with the institutes illustrious alumni.

Addressing the congregation, the Director Dr Subhash D Awale spoke of NITIEs students as its real assets, with the teachers being the main pillars behind their success. Consistently ranked among the top ten B Schools in the country, NITIE received the Outstanding Management Institute Award from the Bombay Management Association for the year 2008 – 2009. This institute also has the distinction of twice winning the Indira Gandhi Official Language Award First Prize, for excellent implementation of Hindi.

In his convocation address, Dr Anil Kakodkar congratulated the graduating students and wished them best of luck for their professional careers. He mentioned that through proper education, our youth can make India one of the most powerful nations of the world. We can build global technologies out of the knowledge pool available within our country and need not remain dependent upon the West. He stressed upon the necessity of empowering the youth and the role played by institutions of higher learning in this regard. He elaborated upon this by adding that our education system should ideally provide an environment conducive to bridge the gap between research work and application of technology. Concluding his speech, Dr Kakodkar expressed hope that each student, while climbing the ladder of success, would contribute to the society and to the country.

The Chairmans Medals for Best Student in the streams of PGDIE, PGDIM, PGDISEM and PGDITM were awarded to Vaibhav Singh, Arun S. Jayaraman, Guruvugari Anup and Ashish Awasthi respectively. The Appejay Trust Award for Best All Rounder was awarded to Richika Ambastha.

MDI and NIIT Imperia sign MoU to deliver Executive Management Programs

Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon and NIIT Imperia entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 11, 2010 to offer Executive Management Programs to working professionals. The Mou was signed by Prof B S Sahay, Director MDI Gurgaon and G Raghavan, President, Global Individual Learning Solutions, NIIT.

The unique basket of programs designed to deliver high quality management education to mid and senior level working professionals will be launched in April 2010. The range and mix of programs, particularly in the areas of General Management and Strategy, leverage MDIs academic competencies and NIIT Imperias superior delivery platform- Synchronous Learning Technology- to deliver education through the interactive, virtual classroom format.

These programs will be conducted simultaneously across 19 cities through NIIT Imperia Centres. This will allow in-job professionals to be in a classroom close to their place of work, and yet have the benefit of quality and updated management education. This will help in both role enrichment as well as career growth, over a period of time.

Commenting on the launch of the Executive Management Program, Professor Sahay, Director, MDI, said, We are pleased to associate with NIIT Imperia to offer our high end management development programs to working professionals.
