MICAT 2024 Exam Information

MICAT (Mudra Institute of Communications Admission Test) is a national level entrance exam conducted twice a year by MICA, Ahmedabad for admission to its flagship PGDM-C programme. It is a computer-based test and is conducted in over 48 cities across India. MICA is a top-rated institute that offers an AICTE approved the course which is equivalent to an MBA with specializations in marketing research, digital communication management, brand management, media management, and advertising management. AICTE is acronym for All India Council for Technical Education and have approved MICA since 1995. Along with the AICTE this exam is also approved by the Association of Indian University (AIU). MICA was established in 1991, located in the outskirts of the western Indian City of Ahmedabad and is a higher education institution for strategic marketing and communication skills in India. It offers numerous post-graduate certificate programs in the area of tactical communication and marketing either as entirely inhabited programmes or as online programmes.

The MICAT phase 2 exam was conducted successfully on January 27, 2024. Since 2020, the institute has reduced the exam duration, and it now lasts for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Alongside the release of the entrance test results, the authority also reveals the names of candidates shortlisted for the PI/GE round. Shortlisting for the PI/GE round is based on the scores of either MICAT I or II, whichever is better among the two scores.

MICA admission test is conducted for the admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-C). It is performed twice in over 48 cities across the country for the selection of PGDM-C batch. Generally, the MICA admission test is a computer-based test and is conducted twice for admission to the batch in the resulting year. The entrance exam for the batch commencing in June/July, the part one which is MICAT 1 is held in December, and part 2 which is MICAT II is held in January 2024.

It is necessary that the candidates have the valid scores of at least one of three eligibility exams CAT 2023, XAT 2024 and GMAT (2023 onwards). Candidate can apply for both the parts of MICAT exam or only one, but if the candidate chooses to apply for both the parts, then the best score out of two will be considered for the final submission. The final selection of the candidates will be decided after the group discussion and Personal Interview. The group exercise and the personal interview are generally conducted at Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru & Mumbai.

In order to proceed to the GE & PI Rounds, candidates must successfully pass the Psychometric test, which evaluates their behavioral and psychological traits prior to undertaking the aptitude test in the MICAT exam. Utilizing the MICAT Psychometric Test, the institute assesses whether candidates are well-suited for the program or not. Questions in the Psychometric Test section may present two or more options, such as true or false, with each candidate’s responses aiding in the analysis of their suitability to pursue the PGDM course at MICA.

Following this assessment, consideration is given to your XAT/CAT/GMAT Scores and MICAT scores, culminating in the calculation of a scaled score. If deemed eligible, candidates will receive an invitation for the GE & PI Round. Admission to MICAT 2024 will be contingent upon XAT/CAT/GMAT Scores, MICAT Scores, and performance in the GE & PI Round.

Given that there are only 180 seats available for allocation through the counseling process, candidates must remain attentive once the merit list is issued by MICA. The selection process encompasses two methods:

  1. 10% of the seats are filled through “spot allotment.”
  2. A step-by-step procedure for seat allotment is followed through central counseling.
