Exam Information

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts an annual exam series known as Common Recruitment Process (CRP) PO/MT for the Recruitment of Probationary Officers/ Management Trainees in Participating Organisations (nodal banks). The exam is currently in its 8th edition, hence titled IBPS CRP PO/MT-VIII.

The exam is applied to by around 20 lakh aspirants each year for 3500 -3600 seats that are available. Eligible candidates can register themselves online to appear for the Preliminary examination. This year the IBPS PO prelim will be conducted on the 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st of October.

The IBPS PO exam is a 3-stage exam consisting of a qualifying Prelim exam, a Mains exam and an Interview. The Mains examination this year will be conducted on the 18th of November.

Participating Organizations in CRP PO/MT-VIII

Every year, nodal banks having recruitment requirements become part of the IBPS PO Participating Organisations and are then allotted candidates post the examination and provisional allotment process. This year there are 20 participating nodal banks, as listed below:

IBPS PO 2018 Important Dates

Registration for the IBPS PO exam began on 14th August and was concluded by 4th September 2018. The eligible candidates will appear for the IBPS PO prelim on the 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st of October. Those qualifying the Prelim stage will appear for IBPS PO Mains Examination on 18th November 2018.

The pre-exam training call letters have also been made available starting 21st September and will be downloadable till the 7th of October.

IBPS PO Vacancy

This year IBPS has released 4102 indicative vacancies, which is more than that of last year’s vacancies which stood at 3562. This year Canara Bank has reported highest vacancy requirements with 1200 seats, followed by Bank of India with 965 seats.

Given that close to 20 lakh candidates apply for the exam ever year, it is evident the competition for these seats is extremely high.

IBPS PO Eligibility 2018

I. Nationality / Citizenship:

Indian Citizens as well as Bhutanese and Nepalese subjects are eligible to apply for this exam. Also, Tibetan Refugees who came over to India before 1st January 1962 and persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can also apply.

Please note that candidates apart from Indian citizens must have been issued a certificate of eligibility by the Government of India.

II. Age (As on 01st August 2018)

Minimum: 20 years | Maximum: 30 years

Thus, a candidate must not have been born before 2nd August 1988 or after 1st August 1998.

As per government guidelines, certain categories are allowed relaxation in the prescribed limit upto a certain age.

Exam Structure Summary

The IBPS PO exam is conducted in 3 stages i.e. preliminary, mains and interview. Each stage must be qualified to proceed to the next. Here are some details about each stage:

1) IBPS PO Preliminary Examination:
Mode: Online
Type: Objective

Certain number of candidates are shortlisted based on cutoff which depends on requirements of participating organisations.

2) IBPS PO Mains Examination:
Mode: Online
Type: Objective + Descriptive

Note: Sectional cutoff as well as overall cutoff must be cleared to qualify for interview.

3) IBPS PO Interview:
Candidates who have been shortlisted post the Mains examination for CWE PO/MT-VII are called for an Interview that is conducted by the Participating Organisations with the help of IBPS and coordinated by the Nodal Bank of every State.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Syllabus 2018

This stage of the exam comprises of 5 sections: Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative, Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Aptitude.

IBPS PO Admit Card 2018

IBPS will release admit cards or call-letter for all three stages separately.

  • To download Admit Card, candidates can log onto the IBPS official websites, ibps.in and click on the CRP PO/MT Option
  • On the page that will open, click the option for Common Recruitment Process for PO/MT VIII
  • Admit Card option for every stage will be displayed on the subsequent stage as and when it is released.
  • Candidates are required to fill in the Registration No / Roll No and Password / DOB(dd-mm-yy) as specified to download the Call Letter.

Prelim Admit Card

All candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can download their IBPS PO Prelim Admit Card from the official website from the 27th of September, 2018 to the 14th of October 2018.

IBPS PO Results

The IBPS PO Prelim Result will be released either at the end of October or beginning of November. The result will be declared on the official website, ibps.in.

Similarly, for the Mains Examination which is scheduled for the 18th of November, the results will tentatively be released in December beginning.

The provisional allotment result, which takes into consideration mains and interview combined score, will be declared in February 2019.
