XLRI the institute which conducts XAT, as a screening test for the admissions in XLRI and other 150 B schools, do not release any official syllabus.

XAT Syllabus and pattern 2020

The exam pattern of XAT keeps on changing very frequently. However, the changes are in number of questions, time duration and marking scheme. The basic XAT syllabus and sections remain the same.

In XAT 2019 a major change that happened was removal of descriptive essay writing section.

This year even if there is a change in XAT exam pattern, no change is expected in the XAT syllabus.

There is wide range of topics in General Knowledge section. Candidate should religiously go through newspapers, magazines and static GK Books to clear this section. Some of the topics included in this section are as under:

XAT Syllabus Verbal Ability

The XAT Syllabus for Verbal & Logical Ability includes the following topics:

Reading Comprehension Fill in the blanks
Jumbled Paragraphs Contextual usage of vocabulary
Word usage Sentence completion
Antonyms/Synonyms Correction of errors in sentence

Paragraph completion In Reading Comprehension section, passages will be from literature, socio-economic essays, science and culture and abstract topics.

 

XAT Syllabus: Decision Making

As the name suggests the purpose of this section is to test the candidates’ decision-making ability. Mostly, situation based questions are asked in this section. Other topics may include:

Analytical Reasoning Logical Reasoning
Data Arrangement Caselets
Situations Assumptions
Arithmetic Conditions and grouping
Decision making
