Thanx.... | 1. We do not brand any percentage as 'not decent'. You stand a good chance provided you portray your fit with Great Lakes through sterling essays. However it will not hurt to have an improved score.
2. Since most applicants will have similar IT backgrounds you should look at improving on your profile like developing some strong extra curriculars.
3. Come to the college and interact with the current students to determine if you actually fit into the college culture.
Keep posting if you have more queries. I will drink ur blood if u dare disagree wth me

Thanx.... | I would ask you to apply with a better score.
because you need to have a good percentile to get a call from Great Lakes. and it may rise further as the bench mark would certainly go higher....... Student

Thanx.... | Hi Mexican Wave,
As my other friends have suggested, your CAT score is not very high....however, you can still apply to great lakes and we will certainly look at your entire profile and decide......
We also accept GMAT scores...so, you can apply based on your GMAT score too...

Another Power Talk at Great Lakes Mr.Ajai Uppal, Senior Vice President (Marketing) of Birla Tyres visited Great Lakes on 12th June 2008. Mr. Uppal is an alumnus of BIT, Mesra and XLRI Jamshedpur. He has a rich experience of around 27 years in various firms in the fields of Marketing, Purchase, Administration, Production Planning, Logistics etc. Mr. Ajai has served several organizations like ITC, Bajaj Plastics and Century Cement. Mr.Ajai spoke at length on "Myths MBAs have about MNCs and family run businesses". He elaborated on the pros and cons of working for a family run business. He laid stress on the fact that a majority of the world's leading MNCs are in fact family-run businesses. The talk was well-received among the student fraternity. The high point of the lecture was the admixture of humor that added flavor and luster to the topic. Quote:

June 22, 2008 witnessed another Guest Lecture @ Great Lakes :- Vishnu in the Boardroom
- by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik : A Medical Doctor by training, Marketing Consultant by profession and a Mythologist by passion.
He has written and lectured extensively on the nature of sacred stories, symbols and rituals and their relevance in modern times. He is the author of numerous books on mythology, most recently Myth=Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology. Dr. Pattanaik’s unconventional approach and engaging style kept the audience in rapt attention, despite it being a Sunday afternoon.
He spoke about the differences in the thought process and beliefs of the eastern and western civilizations viz. Greek and Indian, with respect to mythology, and how this has shaped the current trends and means of interaction and doing business. Individual glory and collective prosperity forms the basis of Greek and Indian mythology respectively, and this has a significant bearing on the current day "flat" world. __________________________________________________ Rohit Menon PGPM 2009
