Thumbs up MICAT/MET Analysis 2005 - 26-02-2005, 08:54 AM

This is from CL site:

MICAT/MET Analysis 2005

Surprise! Surprise!! It appears to be the year of surprises!!

MICA has also jumped on the bandwagon of surprises.Different MET this time, they call it MICAT( sounds familiar) comprising of four sections having duration of 1 hr and 30 minutes. The sections were as follows:

Section A: 10 Q's
Section B: 10 Q's
Section C: 60 Q's
Section D: case analysis

Section A had 10 Q's which contained 4 words as clues and 5 words as answer options. One had to select an answer options which could fit with all the clues.

Eg:
Clues: cart, eye, orange

One of the answer option word was apple(correct answer) as in an apple cart, apple of my eye, apple and orange are fruits.

Answers had to circled (not ticked)

Actually it is a variation of a standard psychometric test to measure creativity known as RAT( remote association test). Don`t worry at all about it, nobody can prepare for it, including you! Although it will pay to have a better verbal aptitude.

Section B
had 10 Q's which were basically about prioritizing what kind of job profile you are looking for.Again a psychometric test, for which you can`t prepare. However our advice is try to be as honest, (and hence consistent) as possible.

Each question had six options which had to be rated from 1 to 15 with different rating( weight) to each option and sum of all the ratings should come out to be 30.

Eg: what kind of job you are looking for?
Option 1: which gives you lots of money even if it doesn`t interest you?
Option 2: which gives you creative satisfaction but a low salary?
Option 3: which involves lots of hard work and pays well but at the cost of family life?
Etc.

Section C
had 60 Q's which was yet again a psychometric test , in which one had to mention the frequency in which the mentioned things happened in one`s life .by rating it from 1 to 5( 1 being never happens to 5 being always happening)

Section D
involved a case analysis( at last no more psychometric test) in which you are a member of 7-8 member team which is doing some research on slum development in your city. Your task was to analyze what are the root causes of slums and how they impact society. You also had to give your approach of handling the issue of slum development and priortize your suggested measures.

In another question you had to write a speech to children telling them importance of clean drinking water.

Hope this analysis has been helpful to you .All the best for your interview!!

all the best guys...

Lightbulb my mica int exp!!!!!! - 26-02-2005, 10:55 AM

hi guys!had my mica int yesterday at mica itself.real cool place, greenery all around about 15-20kms from main city so u get a clean environment,no noise pollution and excellent crowd.

there around 55 students divided into 6 batches,i was in panel 3.first we had a our met at 9,went well nothing asked on brands or punchlines, more of a psychometric test.i think they were checking whether you REALLY fit into mica or not as it is a very specialized course.

then we had the gd,it was a case study we were given a few suggestions as to how to improve he level of school education in our country and we had to priortise them by giving them ranks and then eventually had to discuss on the points and finally submit the top 3 priorities collectively,so more of a group exercise.

interview will revolve around as to why mica?why do u think that u fit into this place.i think these guys really know what they r looking for.

my met and gd went fine not so sure about the interview, just keping my fingers crossed.best of luck to all, kurt.

me too had mica today..... in mumbai

called for the gd at 9.00 am but started at 2.30 pm........very irritating....very boring.... panel 2.....totally 4 panels.....2 batches morn and afternoon

all people in one batch had one gd topic morning one had qualities of a good manager... arrange in order of importance

afternoon had things to do with the environment and pollution control

funnniest part.......panel one had gd at 1.00pm...... got over at 1.20...... same topic of pollution control.......we had an hour to think over it......... still the gd was not good...... no consens

anywayz for the interview.....

3ppl on the panel.......asked me abt why mica, what other calls.....what would be ur preference.......what if you do not get anywhere this yr...... these were the std q's to all the ppl in my batch before me..........and to me also

moved on the work ex specifics......dad's business.......why not joining it........ all the questions asociated with the answers in the form.....then asked me how was micat and the interview experience.........

told them about the waiting since morning......they apologised for the apparent miscommunication.....

then thank you ........c u at mica ......naah just kidding....i really wished that was true

best of luck to the rest

Hey ppl,
was at the MICA gd/pi today(26/2/2005). was good... GD was more like a fish market...some thing on pollution... but better than most of the GD's i been to PI was .... DUNNO!!!!!!!!! very very very short.....or maybe not....its all based on the theory of relativity.. PI's always feel long from the outside... and very short from the inside of the interview room. and as i expected.... got GRILLED for the drastic change in fields from pharmacy to advertising.... coz me's a pharmacy graduate.

lets see wot happens.....any idea when the final results gonna be out???

BTW, for anyone who was there, Me's Abhishek (Panel 1 batch 2.) if anyone who even remotely recognises me plz reply bk
TC peeps... and all the best to all of u...

Wink GD/PI@Delhi !! - 27-02-2005, 01:05 PM

Hi Friends !!

Had my GD/PI at delhi centre -- session 2 - 1:30 PM

3 panel members ( 1 from NDTV(m), 1 prof (f) from MICA, 1 lady from a research backgrnd)

TOPIC: To identify 3 most important steps to save eco-balance(reduce pollution) --- dont remember what exactly it said

10 members ( 3 females)

A) 5 minutes-- identify top 3 as per ur own perception.

B) 20 minutes -- identify top 3 as the group choice( NO VOTING)
Although there was a huge risk of teh discussion converting to a fish market but sense prevailed and we were able to identify top 3 priorties and also give the 4th in the sequence.. a couple of members dint speak at all!!! -- I had some good data to back my points!!

C) 5 minutes-- individually mention ur view on the discussion.( one and all praised the group effort -- although sticking to their view -- with slight accomodation)

PI-- I had to wait till 5:00 pm to get my PI done!!( 10-15 minutes for almost everyone)

a) why a shifty from IBM to mica ---Ans :blah blah......panel:
b) why a shift from engineering to MICA ---Ans : do ......panel:
6-7 ENGINEERING AND JOB ORIOENTED QUERRIES
c) family, background etc etc... ---Ans : do ......panel:
d) how can ur presence help mica ---Ans : do ......panel:
e) whats the difference betn MICA and others ---Ans : do ......panel:
f) hobbies and achievements ---Ans : do ......panel:
g) why do u want to leave a comfortable job ---Ans : do ......panel:
h) do u like movies/music- some specefic questions ---Ans : do ......panel:

I DUNNO WHAT TEH RESULT WAS !! BUT I FEEL I DINT MISS ANY QUESTION!

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL yet to appear!! and hope to see u@ MICA ( 1250 calls --60 seats )
