if you dont mind can you tell me how much salary you are getting as equity dealer.

Why dont you go for CFA FROM icfai. Its very reputed course and if you can ace all papers in one go then you will be able to complete the course in flat 2 years. Job prospects amazing as indian market values CFA from ICFAI apart from CFA (AIMR). Its much more recognised course then CIIA.

One of the main advantages is that once you complete your CFA, then you are exempted from majority of papers in CIIA and you can directly enroll in CIIA level 3.

15000 p.m is good salary. Congrats on getting a placement in final year of B.com. Rarely people get such sort of placement.

CFA from ICFAI is a premium course . It will take you to interview door for positions like analyst, research associate/KPO. It is widely recognised in india and asia . In US, you cant use CFA from ICFAI and you have to use MS(Finance). Its tough to crack. Seeing the passing percentages (40%) on ICFAI webiste, it is surely not a cakewalk. Read this and see what TumTum have to say on page 2 about CFA:

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/b-scho...?highlight=CFA

One thing sure if some body pass like 2 levels and fails to clear last level, then i guess no value of CFA ICFAI.so one should plunge into the course witha strategy and mindset.

securities market program from Indian Institute of capital markets really good. No doubt.Placements are also provided by institute. But to qaulify for entrance exam you need bachelor degree with minimum 2 years relevant experience or recognised master degree with experience/no experience. If that is your goal, then you should clarify if CIIA is recognised as master degree by the institute. You can also work as equity dealer for 2 years preparing for exam during your free time and then take admission for one year course after 2 years.

Also, can you tell me which all 4 modules you have passed from NCFM?

Are they tough? How much study required to pass them?

Do you feel NCFM modules are job oreinted courses?

Re: CIIA Diploma From ICFAI - 28-10-2005, 12:52 PM

hi akhil,
the 4 modules i have passed are- Derivatives core module, capital market dealers's module, NSDL and securities market(Basic) module. for more information log onto - www.nse-india.com/ncfm
yes, these courses are job oriented. you are not limited to any particular job .options are many like- equity dealer, research associate, investment advisors etc...
recently i saw a vacancy as an investment advisor i could not apply because my graduation was not complete. they were looking for graduates(any discipline) with NCFM certification(Any) and 1 years of work experience.
when i complete my graduation i will first do a 3 month course called- "certificate program in capital markets" from bombay stock exchange's training institute.the fees of the program is Rs10500 only(inclusive of training classes and study materials).
anyway, you can easily do NCFM Certification.as far as study is concerned 2 hours a day would be sufficient.the fees per module is Rs 1000only.on the website of NSE, curriculum of each module and also complete study material is also given, you can download it free of cost.
i would like to tell you that i have been working for more than a year. i started with 7000 P.M.

Re: CIIA Diploma From ICFAI - 28-10-2005, 08:38 PM

Thx Routhmanz for your reply. I did B.com hons in 2003 and since working in fancy BPO industry at entry level position. Salary and benefits are awesome but the only problem is taking calls. One get physical exhautsed by taking calls. Only option is to either grow within company or quit. Growing within the company is challenging and uncertain. There are many who have not got any growth since last 3 years and are tired by taking calls.

I am happy that you are not planning to enter the BPO industry and have set your eyes on premium courses. Most of my mates are stuck in BPO. Money is fantastic and in case if some body can manage growth then life not bad. But growth as i said earlier is challenging. No gurantee of growth. Courses like CFA, CIIA can help a candidate to get entry level position in KPO which is value addition job profile.

I also saw indiabulls website and they need dealer with NCFM certification and 1yr of experience.Salary well i am sure will be less then that what i am making in BPO. May be half in certain cases ! But atleast you dont have to listen customer abuse as in calls and taking calls is not much of value addition apart from communication calls.

My plan is do NCFM certifications and by mid next year start preparing for CFA. Call centre job is not feasible as i am tired of taking voice calls.

Re: CIIA Diploma From ICFAI - 29-10-2005, 10:29 AM

dear Akhil,
hi, there was something that i wanted to mention in my previous message but due to lack of time i couldn't. i want to tell you that apart from NCFM there are courses which have international recognition and could prove to be very helpful in getting a job abroad. the simplest one is IMC(Investment Management Certificate)offered by UK Society of Investment professionals.the website is www.uksip.org
it will cost you 150G.B Pounds(inclusive of study material and registration).exams are held in india at all prometric testing centres.

but most helpful would be a diploma or degree(whatever you wish to do)from Securities Institute of Australia(www.securities.edu.au). it offers a variety of courses.just visit the website and request a brochure for for all the courses they offer(ug diploma & pg level)and mention your postal address.they will send you a brochure.mail them at- international@securities.edu.au
as far as jobs are concerned don't run after any specific company.my recommendation to you is Sharekhan, the largest e-broking firm in India.visit personally the nearby office with your resume and tell them that you are interested in working with them. and yes you must visit www.clsa.com
or visit https://www.clsa.com/public/careers/index.cfm

Wishing you all the best
Sanjay
