TCS Recruitment : Jobs, Salary, Interview Questions

I recently joined (fresher , about 2 months or so) an internal project in TCS . We develop new frameworks for automation testing and moreover do analysis of other client projects for the scope of automation testing. Working with QTP and few other tools. I am planning to work for 2 years (thats when my bond ends) and then go for MBA in one of the top 20 B schools . I want to stay in the IT sector after MBA .

Can someone answer my following doubts .

  1. What are the specializations one should opt for ??? Want to get into IT consulting !!!
  2. What are the jobs offered at top b schools by TCS related to consulting ??
  3. Difference between Business Analysts and Consultants ???
  4. Salary packages in big b schools for Business Analysts and Consultants ?? Ll my work experience be helpful in getting a good job profile ??
  5. Onsite chances for both BA's and Consultants !! (One of the major reasons for joining IT !! But hopes dashed after was put in internal project :banghead::banghead:)

Thanks for the patience !!!

@all - by timepass i mean to say just complete ur stipulated work...
and then leave.. prepare for CAT,GMAT,etc...

no need to go that extra mila

I joined TCS in feb 2011. i have completed an year and my confirmation is also done.

However, the work stress has been bad to me and has affected my health. I dont wish to spoil my health further so have opted to go ahead with MBA. I have given MAT and have scored 97% and planning my MBA in IPE.

Could you please advice me whether this decision will be good for my career .

Thanks in advance:

Wats IPE?
To be frank...u wont find a job as good as ur current job after passing from those MAT institutes.
Leave TCS only for a top 25-30 college.
Work stress depends on the project and not on company.
Try to get into a new project ( by hook or by crook )

As i have completed just 1 year I am not eligible for release from the project acc to RMG. (inspite of my health condition being known to them)

Suggestions would be very usefull as i am totally confused.:banghead:

It takes 1 year to get to ASE from ASE-T.
There is no designation as BA. It is a role and not a designation.

This is according my analysis and would include a lot of caveats

more chances of savings
living costs
work exposure

If by sponsoring , u mean paying the fees for ur mba , well that doesnt happen . I inquired with the HR and they told me one can take Leave without pay (LWP) for 2 yrs and join back . The designation and salary will be changed according to the degree . But no expenses will be borne by TCS . U cant take LWP till the bond is done . That means LWP should be taken only after 2 yrs in TCS .

Keep preparing for MBA . Get a good college and move out . Why will someone want to come back and join ?? Even my seniors told the same .

How can u even think that?
Forget abt sponsoring MBA , u will be required to pay the complete
bond amount.
You mite think of not doing that but u wont get any work ex certificate.

Wat makes u think that ppl dont rejoin?
Post MBA, U wont do any development/testing/support.
Pkg and profile will change ( tho not an obligation on them), so its upto a candidate to rejoin or not....and many rejoin.

Carry on with ur preparations as of now . Get in a nice college and pay the bond amount if needed . Avoid coming back to TCS . In case u r recruited from campus , then its sort of better , But going on a sabbatical and then coming back isnt a great idea . I know MBA's who are forced back to coding (Few are part of my team) , no managerial work .

Well u can come back . But MBA in a good college abroad will cost a lot . Hence it would be better to work in some good company in foreign itself to earn what u spent . Later if u want to come back to TCS , u can .

One cannot generalize on just that basis. I believe it depends on the Bschool the employee has graduated from. I know of people who have graduated from good Bschools. I is into a managerial role. The other is in a corporte unit.
