Unfortunately the minimum elibility for CAT, NMAT, SNAP is 50% in graduation, But you can apply for Distance courses from Symbiosis , IGNOU,IMT,NMIMS
My heart echoes the same as man 88. I am also doing a course in finance and passed out in 2009 after doing electronics. Actually I see a clashing of interests in doing a course in finance and pursuing my graduation field. I am doing the course from a reputed government university which is costing me very less. But simultaneously a crave for doing a ms/mtech in electronics still remain, although it does not mean that iam not intersted in finance. But can somebody advise me that doing Mtech after mba(actually a course in finance) or dropping out of mba to do a job is a feasible alternative. Has somebody threaded this path??..please advise..
Hey Puyzz!!I'm an Engineering Graduate with pretty decent acads. I'm working in a Pharmaceutical Plant for last 10 months (+3 months at R&D;+Corporate). I've been facing a lot of medical problems since I've been here. It is affecting my preparation and also I'm not able to give my 100% at work(+job satisfaction is also not there). Do ya think it'll be a good option to quit and concentrate fully on MBA entrances?I'm confident about good percentiles, my only worry is how to justify the job gap, I mean wud medical problems count for?I've got some responses but would really appreciate some more as I've got to decide fast.
Hey Puys!!I got to decide today. Any last suggestions?

If you don't think it's a good option to continue with the job, you can surely leave it and prepare for CAT. Many people have done that and done that very well. But yes, do realize that you're taking a risk, which may or may not pay off. Although your %iles are pretty good (as per your signature) but each year is an entirely new story, so think about these things and decide accordingly.
In case you wish to quit, don't worry right now about explaining the job gap. If you do well in the entrance exams, those things can be taken care of.
I got Final Admit at We School PGDM Business Design at Mumbai.
Just wanted to know that whether students of this course get positions in Finance Firms, I mean positions as Investment Manager or Credit Analyst or Fund Manager as I want to have my career in Finance Field only.
Or, should I go for one another attempt at CAT and other entrance exams??
Seniors, I would be grateful enough if you people could help me in making a right decision.

First of all there are some good colleges like IIM-C , which dont look at your grades a lot , given that you perform well in CAT and in the interview, many puys have made it to great B-Schools , with below average acads in graduation. Colleges like IMI, IMT-G, MDI, NITIE, give some weightage to the acads , but CAT score plays the most important role as well, so whenever you want to prepare , work hard and try maximize your score
All d best:)
Thank you, bro. That was a big big relief for me. I know I can perform well in CAT but was worried that all doors to MBA are already closed for me because of my poor performance. Also, I would like to ask about the MBA program of ISB Hyderabad? I've heard that it is for only 1-year duration and requires minimum 2 years of work experience. Is it true? And how much weightage would it give to academic performance in the graduate level?
Currently joined a job as an engineer (not software) somewhere. I am sure I will stick to this job for at least one year.
Now my plan is to do some distance-learning (or correspondence) bachelor's program in some other field. BA preferably, but from a recognized university. I would do this only so as to clear the eligibility for writing CAT and other exams. I am sure I can get 50% this time (I have no other choice!). So my first question is whether this would be a good idea or would be a waste of time? Next I want to ask whether IIMs allow BA-correspondence students admission to their schools? In other words, are such bachelor's degree recognized by IIMs and other B-schools? And what is the minimum time in which I could get such a degree? I am thinking of applying to IGNOU.
Plz someone plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Am I posting at the wrong forum? Posting this 3rd time.
Hey all,
I am an IT engineer.I am having 1 and a half year experience in testing in Financial services domain. I would like to do a career in testing/QA(want to become a QA manager in a good company).
I want to know how should I shape my career from now on to become a QA manager effectively and quickly.Already 24 years old.
Can a MBA in Finance help me achieving this? Or only systems/IT MBA help me with this?
Also want to know whether doing MBA from a good college can give me placement in such kind of role.If yes can it be any Finance or only Systems/It.
Being a BE IT,would prefer a MBA in systems/It but only in Mumbai. Are there any good colleges for MBA in systems/It in Mumbai.
In Mumbai only Finance MBA is comman.Dont know whether this will help me becoming QA manager. Also,if possible, dont want to change my line to Finance.
But if Finance MBA can give placements in IT companies in such kind of role then ok with me
Am confused a lot. Some say even MBA is not required just keep on giving testing certifications ISTQB,CSTE etc.some say just Part time MBA(are there any good part time MBA colleges in Systems in Mumbai?)
Plz give your suggestions so that I can decide for next CAT,CET. Thanks a lot.
in continuation with my query(http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...9.html#1871539) and baccardisprite's reply to it, it would like to ask another question..I applied for the Chinese Scholarship Council govt scholarship and got a 1 year full scholarship to study chinese at tsinghua(the top university in China). Along with that,I could only manage to get admission into the masters in international business program of Delhi School of Economics in DU. Now I am facing a big dilemma as to what to do..
I dont know why but I can't control the sinophile in me. I am just damn attracted towards china and seriously believe that my long term future is related to it.I am a bit too curious to explore that country in a greater detail and the best thing to start with is to learn mandarin, which I am already doing.. I dont know how this proclivity towards china going to shape my future. But I dont have any answer to the question of my family as to "what is the benefit of going to an alien country for 1 year and learning their language and then coming back home"......
On the other hand, my family is pressurising me not to leave DSE as it will secure my future and would help me land a good job, after which I could do whatever I want to do in life,go to china, taiwan, north korea or any other f****** place...they are also right in saying that thye knowledge of chinese would be an excellent complement to my degree in international business..so i should wait for two years, complete my masters and then apply for a scholarship again...
Again I am so confused..I believe that real knowledge comes outside the classroom, when you live with differrent people and cultures and learn from then, the opportunity for which this scholarship provides me..but then my family's point of view is also not wrong..should I invest my 2 years in MIB and then go to china or should I listen to my heart and go out for a risky adventure to learn the real meaning of life???I AM DAMN CONFUSED
I'm not an experienced member, but I am experienced in terms of taking 'risks' in your career.
Here's what I have learnt: sometimes, when you follow your heart, the initial few months/years might be completely miserable, you may ask yourself time and again: "why did I do this?" But eventually, things fall into place.
Your parents may oppose (mine did too), but they'll reconcile with your decisions. After all, there are a lot worse things you could be doing than following your heart.
I'm from DU too and I know tons of people like you who have done exactly what their wanted and are very happy today. Some are financially better off than they would have been otherwise. None I know regret their decisions. You're in DSE so you're definitely influenced by the atmosphere at D-School. Talk to some of the people hanging around the d-school canteen - many of them have followed what their heart told them. Ask them about their experiences, whether it was worth it or not. That'll give you some answers

I am planning for CAT 2011 and I have some queries.. I've seen that most of the "CAT crackers" are from engineering background. I know that it will definitely give a boost on DI, Quant and all. But is it really necessary to have an engineering background to crack CAT? I am 27 now..I am planning to quit my current job by the end of 2010 and concentrate completely on CAT 2011..is that a right decision with regards to my age? Does any one know the oldest person to crack the CAT?

dont worry dude about age .have heard people cracking cat at age of 29/30. so age is not at all a criteria. just try to put your best foot forward........would suggest u to give a crack at cat 10 if it is possible for u....

Hi,
I agree that being an engineer gives an edge in QA and DI , but it does not mean that non-engineers cannot crack CAT. There have been people from non engineering background and that too from commerce and arts background scoring exceptionally well in CAT ( better than many engineers) and people make it to IIMs as well and pose a good challenge to engineers even inside IIMs.
Even when you talk about QA & DI , there are people who from medical and other backgrounds who have scored 99+ in these sections. So, it is all about how you go for a section and your understanding of the concepts . :)
As far as age is concerned, i don't know the person with highest age clearing CAT but in my batch itself i have the 30 yrs old guy and one married guy as well. So , age is no bar in clearing CAT and getting into coveted B-Schools.
hello everyone i am a newbie on PG i would like to share my life with everyone i was a bright student from the beginning got good percentage in my X (87% - CBSE) was good at maths but parents and relatives forced me into taking BIO(they wanted one of their family member to be doctor.....i was too simplistic to retaliate and so took their sayings .....said to myself yes i can do it ....my mind was occupied by thoughts like OH what money will i make....it seemed like clearing PMT was the only hurdle i faced and afterlife would be glorious)
went through my 11th and 12th and gave AIPMT in phy chem portion i did very well ... bio went below avg. anyways cracked it in my first attempt(most the students do it after 1 year drop) with a 86% in my 12th board (cbse)
took a MBBS seat at Govt. medical college raipur (chattisgarh) 3years went by i was not happy with what i was studying ...still didnt say anything and ignored the feeling...... passed all my exams with an avg. score i was busy having fun with my friends enjoying the city after all i was away from my parents for the first time during my 3rd year of exam preparation a thought came to my mind "is this what i want to study my entire life" the answer was a clear "no" the exams ended and i scored avg. again
then i started to research what i could do other than doing post graduation came to know of CAT ....did some research.....everything attracted me towards it..... and suddenly i wanted to do MBA.....sole reason being that it will change by line of work completely again did some research this time had a chat with a few IIM DOC individuals...... and found that i didnt have any real answers to WHY MBA ?
by nature i am an introvert ....i am not a debater nor a leader but yes i believe that i can change and i am confident to face the challenges that lies ahead
but sometimes i face apprehension what concerns me : "what if i dont fit into MBA" "what if the qualities one requires for being a good manager are inborn and cannot be worked upon"
i may sound pessimistic...but please understand that this is the biggest decision of my life and this time i want it to be right... respected seniors i need your help.... am i heading in the right direction? please reply
