Hey guys!
We have Infosys offering a position of Associate Consultant on our campus this yr. Any idea what exactly the job profile. The description sounds like a Pre-Sales job. Was wondering if anyone has a better idea...
Thanks,

colleges to which u can apply depends on ur score..
if u get 98+ in cat u'l get calls frm IIMs
on top of that u can apply to MDI
also u may apply to NITIE or IITs if u r frm science background...again it all depends on ur score n in wat u want to specialise..for foreign trate u may want to go for IIFT
SP JAIN is also there for people with good profile
i am a candidate preparing for mba this year and trying for bank jobs too i have a year gap the point is that most b schools prefer people with work ex background , generally for many engineers getting job is a bit easier than other backgrounds due to the IT jobs (depends on location too ) but people with science backgrounds may have difficulty in getting jobs related to their fields ( except teaching etc) and also depends on location factor too , so a year gap may be unavoidable (specific to persons) though , do these type of profile create negative impression at the interviews of b school if the academics are moderate (not too high)?

If you want to do MBA from good b schools, then you should set sight on a good workex.
Then you can convince the intv folks that its through workex you got to know the real importance of acads and so want to be back to school and get the best out of acads.
it could then become ur USP, it would show your eagerness to right a wrong

also go thru this http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/past-acads-no-cause-for-worry-during-admissions-iim-calcuttas-prof-anup-k-sinha-25012799
If you want to do MBA from good b schools, then you should set sight on a good workex.ur suggestion is too good but me applying for mba this year only , have ayear gap(engaged in community services and getting a different exposure to life ) my problem is the average acads and the gap , though i know community service is good but i think job experience (of course the profile must be good , the typical call centes, sales man may not count) adds more to CV since i am doing the communtity service as a side engagement only , not as a full time profession which i would not have done if i got a decent job , so with my profile which b schools (not the creme de la creme ) should i think for?

also being a simple grad it is difficult to get specific type of jobs (not talking about the banks and all)MBAPO09 Saysur suggestion is too good but me applying for mba this year only , have ayear gap(engaged in community services and getting a different exposure to life ) my problem is the average acads and the gap , though i know community service is good but i think job experience (of course the profile must be good , the typical call centes, sales man may not count) adds more to CV since i am doing the communtity service as a side engagement only , not as a full time profession which i would not have done if i got a decent job , so with my profile which b schools (not the creme de la creme ) should i think for?
Hi puys,
I gave CAT on Dec2. was good
. I was getting 85-95 %ile in TIME AIMCATs and 98%ile twice.
Will be taking XAT and FMS
. Gave IIFT, seems missed Quant cutoff
I want to do an MBA because of I want to learn. Never in my life i put so much effort like I did for CAT09
, coz i am eagerly waiting to get into IIMs or other good insti.
I got 90+ in 10th and 12th CBSE and was school topper, to be frank, without much preps. Was trying for Medical entrance but i didnt get in and got into a decent Engineering college in Kerala, again with no effort. Got placed in the first company came to my college, USTGlobal.
I have been working as a Software Engineer for last 25 months.
So what are my chances to get into a good college?
I have applied MDI,IMT,NITIE aprt from XLRI and FMS. I didnt apply for SP Jain yet. Will I be good enough? or is it good for me?
I like Finance, also operations. No hate to marketing as well. Teaching in some good insti is a long term (10+ years) goal.
Will post more after CAT results, but can someone suggest what it means to be a consultant/finance professional, I mean the work profile?
Hi Puys,
Somebody please explain if there is something called general MBA ? My understanding is that general MBA course trains a candidate on basics of all areas like HR, Operations etc. but does not go in depth into any particular area. Please correct me if am wrong. Also i would like to know if IIMs offer part time in general MBA.
Also posted this on part-time thread which is more than 3 years old.
So reposting here.
Thanks
Sri

Hey,
Need some advice on a couple of issues.
Firstly, Just a background check. I'm about to finish my Engineering degree, nothing much to write home about in terms of academics although technically my % falls in the 1st division.
Anywho, I wanted to ask something about work experience. Over the past couple of years, I've been working on surveys for a Govt. scheme that aims at promoting handicrafts. It looks to give employment to the skilled yet unpaid artisans and tries to market their products. I've done the survey across 14 states. I'm also planning to do the NREGA survey in the coming summer.
Now, Does this qualify as work experience? Or does it fall under co-curricular activities? How do I put a time-frame on it as I do the surveys whenever I get some time off, whether it be the summer/winter holidays or a week off here and there. I'm also involved with a couple of (Very Small)NGO's as a Secretary.
I obviously have zero corporate experience and pretty much have an abysmal academic record.
What sort of MBA options am I looking at? Is Rural Development a feasible option in terms of job prospects? What would be the pay-scale in that profession? Not too bothered about the pay but at the end of the day I do have people that are going to be dependent on me. What would be the most probable job description? What all colleges are renowned for their RM courses?
Would my "experience" qualify even If I decide to take up a "Core" management field?
Some guidance will really be appreciated.
Thanks a ton..!

1. Try software companies developing banking software as domain specialist.
2. Do CFA and try for equity research jobs analyzing Indian banking sector
3. Try MNC banks like Standard Chartered/ ICICI. A MBA may help here.

Hi Puys, hope this is the right place for my query
I plan to give my GRE in 2 months( not a date yet, BUT 2 months it is) , as i want to go in Jun 2011, for Masters in Financial Engineering, or MS Math Finance.
This is embarassing, but here goes
but I don't have an engineering background, rather a BA in Commerce. I have given 2 NCFM exams( scored in the high 90s in both). Have 4 years Work ex, not in finance field, in business media industry.( Network 18 Ltd)
MY GPA will suck, it might be 1.0 or sumthin, as I have got only 41% in BA.( mumbai university).
I am willing to slog my ass off for GRE, but still, do i even have a chance??? Someone told me to apply for CFA also, and i think its a great idea. but Still, do I have a shot??? I REALLY REALLY want to be a Quant, and thast all i want to be. Its my career dream.
Any responses will eb great help, I'm kinda bummed about this
Thanks much!!!!
Sid
