i am preparing for cat 11, but prblm is that i completed my eng in 2010, joined tcs bt left very early, i dnt have any wrk ex: can family business be counted in wrk ex: plz give ur suggestions

hii. this query is for all the people who have eithr done or in their 2nd year of MBA..
i have just got into a college which is in top35 acc to pagalguy.
i want to take up finnace in my second year.
now the query is there are all kind of committees like placecom,adcom,SRC,extracurric are being made.
so will joining these committees affect my placements or what will be their effect?
as seniors have made this clear that if we join any commitie our study will suffer definitely..
so please suggest me.


No it wouldn't affect ur placements.. infact it would add value to ur CV..and dude MBA is NOT about just mugging it is about 360 degree development. u need to learn to manage time..that's it!

so stop worrying and enjoy 😃 infact thw topper of my college was in placement comm..so it is nt that it is impossible..u just need to work with a plan..

just avoid putting ur legs on multiple boats..check ur interest areas and get involved accordingly 😛

I am currently working as a market research professional (with an experience of almost 6 years), I have few queries regarding pursuing further studies in market research.
I want to understand if an MBA would be helpful or would pursuing a MS in Market Research be more beneficial for my career (both degrees from US). And if I pursue a MS in market research, what are the kind of job opportunities that I would get?
My profile:
Educ. Qualification: pursuing MA Linguistics (Distance), BA in (History and Economics, full-time course)
Additional Qualification: completed 6 levels in German, certificate course in Spanish

Dear Seniors,
I m a CAT'11 aspirant n have joined classes recently. Those who joined earlier have already started appearing for the mock tests which are conducted almost every week. Now our syllabus will be completed only in mid October.. This is creating pressure on me.. Due to some personal reasons i joined classes late and planned to appear for CAT in 2011 itself.. Pls give me useful tips as to how should i go about my studies and what extra things i can do to crack exams..

Hello!

I am a Delhi University pass out of 2011 batch. I have studied B.A. Economics hons with 45% aggregate. I have a academic record of 85% above till my 12th but screwed up my graduation.
All the MBA colleges have the minimum eligibility of 50% and I dont qualify that. Please suggest me other alternatives or other good institutions which doesn't have this min. eligibility criteria.
Please. Its urgent.

i just completed my b.tech 3rd year
exams got over on 11th june


the problem is that as i was preparing for my exam
i didn't touched the whole syllabus for about 1.5 months

so it's probably 3 months to cat and i have forgot what i read

i completed no.sys and arithmetic before hand thoroughly

and algebra,geometry,p&c; was left

after exam i m blank
now my strong point is va ,di is average

i gave aimcat free recently
attempted 15 in va ,10 were right , 5 were wrong ,so my confidence got up a bit as i hadn't been in touch for 1.5 months

di -- attempted 5 ,right -4 [time was less]

quants-- never revised b4 the test
so as to know how much i know
attempted -10 ,right -1

so i m depressed big time
just my morale is low

dreamt of cat since class 9th, now it is right time and i m in a mess

but i know my apti is strong and i can do it
[ i can boost myself pretty easily but just feeling a bit low]

i would like to know wat to expect in the interview...will it be hardcore technical or basic technical or a personal interview...and it would be of great help if any1 who had gone thru the interview procedure cud post some questions..

I have a small issue and i'm asking the question because i still cant understand what in actual terms is the kind of exp that is valid, i was preparing for CAT 2010 so i had joined a small company as the work load would be comparatively less but i wasnt able to fair as well as i wanted n had not applied instutions apart frm the top ones, with almost 10 months of work-ex i left the job and have only the work-ex certificate and have joined a banking course in ifbi which takes up my tym and isnt possible to purse a job with it i have decided to go ahead and give the papers again this year...will my 10 months of work-ex wil be taken into account??
P.S was workin in the accounts division as I'm a commerce grad..

hey i KINDA had a same query i worked some wat hard last yr and scored 85.92 %ile in cat:splat::splat: and 65.5 score in jmet:splat::splat:.... ALONG WID MY 8 backs in electronics and telecom... i cleared all and was got selected in patni computers too....
I Aspire to get into some business venture later in my life and at the same time dont want to compromise with the college i take the degree...converted imt-dcp dis year and left it...
i really dont want to create a profile....wasting long years creating codes...wen i know i am meant to speak and write...to humans in NATIVE english...not in binaries...
but at the same time it is a huge risk....and there is pressure and insomnia wen i get to serious preps... !! suggestions plz;)

Hi, I started CA after 12th but never cleared the entrance(gave many trials). I completed graduation(B.com) correspondingly and did MBA from Amity Uni after that. We just studied and gave exams nothing much.

I am 23 yrs of age and not getting any desirable job right now as my MBA degree does not hold much importance.

I am again giving CPT for CA in june 2011. But to complete CA(if i can) will take much time (4 to 5 years). Am really confused now on what to do. Please suggest me good courses, IT related or whatever. I am good with computers. Please suggest a good course which can fetch me a 25000-30000 (starting) job. Right now am getting 10000-15000 if at all i am able to get one. Am really lost :(

P.S: I did MBA in Finance & Marketing. Need a good career oriented course relating to IT, Finance, Accounting etc
I am open to study and work in abroad also only if conditions satisfies.

I believe TERI university's MBA programmes will be the best fit for you. If you're not in a hurry to do MBA, you should hold on to your current job and join a top tier executive MBA programme later. Distance learning is advised only if someone has a job and she needs an MBA for appraisal.

Hi ,

I am working for a commercial airline as a Pilot. I get loads of free time . I thought of investing that time to get an MBA/PGD through Distance Education.

I have shortlisted 2 courses from NMIMS-SDL (as I'm based at Mumbai and NMIMS-SDL was rated 2nd by ZEE Business)

1) Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)
2)Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM)

Firstly,are these Post Graduate Diploma courses equivalent to MBA ?

Secondly, can someone please suggest which of these courses would be more beneficial from my future point of view i.e career in the aviation industry? You are free to suggest any other course from some other reputed distance learning school too but please note as I keep flying I can learn only in distance mode.

A > Which of the institute is better ? i.e knowledge + reputation point of view

1) IMT-CDL or 2)NMIMS-SDL .

Earlier I was looking only at NMIMS courses as I am presently based out of Mumbai so thgt it would be better ..but ltr learned tht IMT has learning centres in Mumbai.

B> IMT-CDL is charging about 20K more thn NMIMS-SDL for d PGDM course .. Is it worth spending the extra amt ??

How good is the EMBA from Manipal University? I have a total work ex of 2.7 yrs and working with a reputed IT company.Going forward i want to get into a role of Business Analyst.It goes without saying that a regular MBA is a better option but given the limitation of discontinuing my present job, i would like to know the benefits of EMBA.

Yes, you can do executive MBA even after the distance MBA, it is not an issue in my opinion. ATB

Since you are already an MBA, I'd suggest brushing up your knowledge a little and keep looking for better options though Job Portals/Placement agencies. Career change after an MBA degree is not advisable. IT-sector would prove to be too technical for you. Try taking help from a seniors whom you know. Lastly, you could do some finance related certifications like CFA,CFP,FRM etc to boost your profile. ATB!

Hi, the only benefit that I see is that you can bug your HR for a BA role, or if it doesn't works out, get some interviews for BA role in other IT companies(even if they are smaller). Write a mail to the institute asking "How would I benefit doing an EMBA with you?" ATB.

Hi, they will probably touch up upon every aspect. Try brushing up the concepts, basics should be clear in any case.. Be clear the concepts you used in your B.tech project. Be prepared for "why M.tech?"(basically they might want to check your research aptitude). You could bluntly ask them to quiz you from your "strong area", if things are not going that well. However you have to be really sound in that field. Lastly, Google is your friend, try "M.Tech Instrumentation Interview experience" as the search string. ATB.
