I'm about to complete by B.E degree majoring in Instrumentation and I've just taken my CAT 2010... I'm pretty confused as to whether I should go for an MBA right after my UG or if I should wait for two or three years and then do an MBA with some work experience?? because many people tell me that the fancy salaries offered in many top B schools are only for the ones with substantial work exp. and not for freshers...
Dude, go get yourself 2 years of work experience provided you get a respectable and decent job and are able to carry on with your preparations. The reason for work ex is not the pay package (why do we all think mba = moolah ? ) but the fact that it is only after working for a few years and understanding what the industry is all about will you be able to benefit from the mba and will be able to relate to it and understand the topics they teach better ... That does not mean that freshers understand nothing but you will really be able to get the maximum from the experience once you get some work ex .... (PS - You will get some moolah too, see what it feels like ha ha ha 😃 )

Hi! I am in my 1st year of MBA. Though there is no specialization as such for Media/Entertainment, I want to select as many related electives as possible.Will an MBA in Marketing with focus on those electives help to enter that field or should I undertake some extra course? Please do not panic because of mock scores.... there have been people in past who scored meagre scores in 1-2 mocks just before real CAT but ended up scoring very decent scores in real CAT ... mock scores are not the perfect reflection of what we score on D-Day!
I would suggest to keep confidence in your abilities and do not let 1/2 low scores mitigate your confidence.... also, just analyze these mocks and try to identify the areas where you went wrong and try to avoid those reasons in real CAT!
Hey puys I have a query. How can a person get in to the risk management domain. For example I will complete my MBA by 2011 and by march Max I will finish of my PRM and am also a fresher. So can anybody tell me what is the best way to get in to risk management?
Passed X in 2005 with 72% Passed XII in 2007 with 78% Passed B.com(H) in accountancy and finance in 2010 with 67% from Calcutta University. Now pursuing M.Com
I was an average student but after coming to college suddenly started doing really well and scored a high first class from Calcutta university which has made me more confident.
I am extremely interested in Finance and am really strong and interested in Accountancy Financial Statement Analysis and Financial Management.
My plan as of now is to do an MBA in finance (CAT 2011)...
But ideally i want to work now for two to three years and then do a MBA and also an ACCA/CFA with my own money while working.
What sort of job can i get at this point.?? What would be your suggestions??

now i hv a offer from ministry of defence(Where i took training).i hv to take a disicion whethr quit engineering or quit job(salary is nt much).I m highly interested in pursuing M tech.i just want to know will the company understand my case or jst declared me as a candidate with 4 yr gap.kindly shw me a path.
Puys I'm down and out and need some guidance people.. Let me give my details first.. I finished B.Tech in 2009 (NIT, decent acads) and have been working since then in a core engineering company. CAT 2009 was my first attempt. I put my heart and soul into it and managed a decent score (a little less than 99%ile, with 95+ in all sections) and eventually managed admission from two top 15 BSchools (PG Rankings). I let them go for I wanted to give CAT one more full-fledged attempt. But by then work started becoming too demanding and I found myself working insane hours (I've even worked 24 hours straight on many occasions, no exaggeration, its commonplace in my industry). But I never let this get to me and also did justice to CAT prep all the while. My efforts at work were also rewarded well (I got an out-of-turn promotion after GET and the opportunity to work on an awesome project too.) In October this year I decided I had to run the extra mile in order to crack CAT and took 3 weeks sick leave from office. CAT came and went, I believe I've done decently and am expecting a few calls. But everyone at work came to know that I'm an MBA aspirant and this changed things there volte-face. I'm suddenly the 'selfish traitor' now. So much so that I keep getting harassed on a daily basis my the boss guys. I'm finding it very difficult to stay happy and concentrate on anything in such an atmosphere, and it's not going to get better at all. However much I try to put up a brave front, this is seriously dampening my spirits. With the interviews around the corner, I don't want to quit lest I should be jobless when face the panel. Plus I've meticulously built a very good profile for myself (I believe so). Also please advise me if I should put in my papers now (I'll have 18 months work-ex in total then) or not. Would sticking to the job (20-21 months work-ex) make any difference? All in all continuing in this atmosphere is seriously getting to me and I'm losing all confidence in myself and all happiness in life.
Well you've dont B Com in finance.. you're interested in finance...and you want to do MBA in finance....
So all i can say is...go for a job .. with a finance background.... absolutely anything in finance would give you a strong head start... the money/salary should not be an important factor at this point in time...

Well I just completed my engineering from PTU ( Punjab Technical Univ.) in computer science. I had plans to join my dad business but now I have changed mind and decided about job ad continue with it. I have plans to sit for CAT 2011. Till then i want to go ahead and do a Software Testing Course. Is it a good course to do as in the future aspects of it ?
