I am planning to buy a new Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. This query is for those who are already using Inspiron 14R/15R.

I heard that it's screen has glossy finish with very good colors, which is very good to see in the dark but in light or sunlight it gives a reflection. Is this true? Dell uses TrueLife technology to avoid reflection, how effective is that?

Using the dell Inspiron 1545 laptop for over 1.5 years and still not faced any problems.I'll recommend you to go for that!!

puys anyone here can differentiate dell from vaio. As, when i browsed through both of them, they are almost similar in price, configuration, warranty etc etc. Wats de factor differentiate these two rivals and also pls suggest which is best to use atleast for 5 years. ?

Both are targeted for different audience. Del with its Inspiron and studio series targets home users where as Sony Vaio is more of a Corporate feel to it. Sony has also priced its products slightly higher (due to brand value). You can choose any of them depending on your requirments (and the machine's configuration).

just got inspiron 15R with
i3/320 gb hdd/3 gb ram/512 graphic/window 7 basic/tomato red/3 year complete accidental cover at Rs 42120/-(including delivary charge of 900)

i ordered it online & discussed discount with custmer care executive.


Hey.. I got the same configuration apart from the 'Tomato red' part in 37,700/- But got Infy discount of 8% .. I guess thas the difference.. For more details, contact me in the class 😃

battery life, graphics card and light weight are more or less mutually conflicting
ex: graphics card=> higher power consumption=> lower battery life, it will also weigh a bit more than integrated graphics.
then you will have to look for 9 cell batteries=> higher weight

If you can remove the discrete graphics card requirement, there will be a lot of netbooks which will fit your bill

You will not get any corporate discount through dealers. The only way to get that is by ordering online. You will be connected to a sales manager. Just tell them the comapany you work in. If the company has tie-up with Dell, you can get the discount.
To prove your association with the company, you need to send a confirmation mail from the company E-mail Id to the sales manager. Even if your company doesnt have a tie-up, sales managers can give a discount of 1-2%, again depends on how much you can negotiate!

I got 8% discount as I was working in Infosys. :D
