Hello sir,
Good to see you again on PG. I had appeared for CET-07 scored 96.6% (137) but was not able to make into any of the top 5 colleges.
This year again I am writing CET 08. I am giving IMS mocks but I am only able to score 75 in them
Feeling very much depressed. My weal sections are English and VR.
Could you please tell me what can I do in these two days to improve my score?
One more year passed and I am still standing with nothing in my hands......
The greatest barrier to success is fear of failure.

Hi Swapnil
What I have heard is IMS mocks are a bit on a tougher side. So dont get disheartened. Suggestions would be to give a couple of tests from some other classes just to get a feel (no classes in particular). So in the remaining days write 1 test per day just to have a feel. (Normally I do not recommend to solve a paper on the last day -- Saturday, but you may need it to boost your confidence).
As far as your weak areas go ... There are a lot of questions in the CET paper in VA which do not take time. Solve these questions but do not waste too much time in these questions. It should be just look at the question and the options and mark whatever first comes into your mind. Not more than 20 to 30 seconds per question). This will help you give more time to your strong areas. Those questions of VA and VR which takes a lot of time, dont bother solving it. Keep it for the end .. i.e. solve if you have the time.

In your opinion what should be the stragedy for solving the paper
1.Attempt straight 1-200 q's
2.Pick easy questions at the start and increase the no of attempts done in the first 1 hour.
3.Divide the paper in 5 sections of 40 marks each and then solve each section in half an hour.
I knw different ppl have different strategy but still want to knw ur opinion.
thanks

Hello Sir,
I m n OMS candidate...writing CET for the first time n i m taking Career Forum's CET RACERs for HOME. These CET mocks of complete 2.5 hrs.....my attempts hav consistently been near to 150 in the early stages n now they r 160+ from d last 3 mocks....though my score has nvr been so gr8.....erlier it used to dwindle around 110 n now its near 125 .....
so m a bit disappointed...bcoz being n OMS i need atleast 99.98% to evn think of JBIMS....n m wrting CET jus for it.....i cant predict the pattern of CF's mocks...may b they r not tat tough bt not tat easy too....
so can u rate my graph n tell me sthng/strategy tat cud boost my score in these last 2 days...
bcoz i alwz analyze my mocks n one thng i found is tat m actually leave certain ques wch i cud hav done correctly in n attempt to do CRITICAL REASONING first ....bcoz in my last mocks m constantly leaving 16 RC ques...directly from d passage...though i cud hav done thm if wudnt hav spend d time over CR .... though i cant leave CR too....so reading passage may take enuf of time so i leave thm for d end....bt tat end nvr comes.....so can u suggest something over it.
Thank You.

Different strategy suites different students depending on their strengths and weakness. Any of the above strtegy will do .. but I am a little apprehensive of the 1st strategy as it may result in losing out questions in the end which could be sitters.
The 2nd or 3rd strategy seems fine.
Apart from these there are many more different stategies followed by students whicle giving CET.
One of them ... Identify how many questions you solve regularly in a CET paper. Say you solve 150 questions on a regular basis. In that case you know that you will leave approximately 50 questions in the exam.
So pick out 50 questions in the whole CET paper that takes a lot of time and where you r accuracy will be low. Leave out these questions and solve the remaining from 1 to 200. This will ensure you will not waste a lot of time searching for questions and you will ensure that you will solve 150 Qs that you are good at and dont take too much time. If you still have time you can come back and solve the remaining questions.

My strategy for the exam was ...
I had identified that I usually used to solve around 175 Qs in CET paper. So I identified 25 Qs which I was weak at and which took a lot of time. Which was RC and Jumbled sentences.
For the remaining Qs I divided it into two areas .. one consists of Math, DI, Logic, Visuals, (around 135 Qs).. which I was good at and the second was Verbal ability (40 Qs) questions where my accuracy was low but it did not take much time.
I realised that in the second part my accuracy was low but I also realised that I could solve each question in 20 seconds. For question like synonyms, antonyms, fill in the blanks, analogies, I realised that despite going fast i could get 50% accuracy. So even if I solve 3 Qs per minute I could still get 1.5 marks per minute. So I had to attempt the second part. So i finalised my strategy ..
I decided that for first 2hrs 5 mins I would solve the first part of 135 Qs. As this was my strong area I would get most of my marks in this section. Also as my mind would be fresh in the start I will be able to attempt it better. Also as I would solve it from 1 to 200 .. I did not waste time in searching for questions.
After solving how much I could in the first part I would spent around 15 to 20 mins for the 40 Verbal ability Qs. And last 5 minutes for guess marking. (I also ensured that in my 1st 2 hours if I came across any VA questions I would write it in the corner of the paper so that I did not have to search for Qs in the end).
Actual exam it went out as planned. In the first 2hrs 10 mins I could solve all the Qs from the 1st part, then I could solve 40 Qs of VA in 15 mins flat (time pressure made me solve faster) and I still had time to solve RC and Jumbled sentence in the end.
This was my strategy for the exam .. But yours could be quite different depending on your strengths and weakness.

As you know that you are able to attempt around 160 Qs .. decide on some 40 Qs that you would keep it for the end or leave it time does not permit you to answer those Questions.
Also while choosing questions find out your score per minute. If you are able to attempt 2Qs per minute with 50 % accuracy you get 1 mark per minute .. but if you solve a question in 2 mins with 100% accuracy you get 0.5 mks per minute. So it is better to solve the 1st type of questions as compared to the second.

what i want to know is whether anyone has some specific plan as to how to go about the tukkas......i normally mark a single option for all the answers.....accuracy is between 10%- 25% by such method.....hardly takes 5 min. to mark around 20-25 problems......
anyone got anything better???
