Insurance to IB/HF/PE - 24-04-2007, 12:15 AM

Hello

I need some advice regarding my career. Hope people chip in with their valuable comments.

I'm 33 years (will be 36+ at graduation if I get into an MBA in 200 with good career progress so far in insurance. I would like to move into IB/HF/PE either in India or in Asia Pacific (AP). Wondering whether
- doing an MBA might help me in making the move?
- if so, what schools are strong in finance (I heard that IIMB and C are stronger in finance than IIMA - is this true?). Any other school suggestions (India/AP) welcome.
- how much of a disadvantage would my age be at the recruiting fairs (given that most of the students would typically be their early 20s)
- what are the salaries for a post-MBA (in India/AP) in the fields above (given that I have significant experience in insurance I need to work out how much pay cut I might need to take)

Comments from alumni or people with similar experiences of career switching most appreciated.

Thanks
