hi tushar i can sympathize wit u coz i was suffering the same confusion n decided on ximb
i did that for different reasons but bfore giving tht i will tell u the pros n cons of both insti as far as i know ....
NMIMS:pros 1)Mumbai--supossedly a big pro as my TIME head told me.. 2)gud placements 3)industry ineraction from early stages are good
cons: 1)doesnt hav a proper campus life coz no proper hostel .a male hostel coming up but wudnt complete so soon 2)pretty expensive the output aftr this investment wud b similar to tht of the fees etc so no gain 3)students mostly party a lot so studies hampered
XIMB:pros 1)great campus life 2)students are competitive in large numbers n do pay attention to stdies 3)gud companies go there n recruitment was 100% this time 4)infosys made 16 offers 5)recuiters started comparing it wit xlri n iim 6)for operations it is the second best aftr IIM-b
cons: 1)ppl outside do not really thnk it to b gud even though it is 2)administration strict --so thts partly gud too
i didnt thnk Mumbai is a gud enough reason for me to go there apart from tht no accomodation within campus is a big con for me... i m looking forward to great campus life
hope to c u if u decide on XIMB !!!
chao tak care :)
Hi Neha,
Sorry for a late reply... i was travelling all this while.... I still have to decide abt XIM and NM. Tom i have an appointment with IMS counsellor. i will decide after that.... newyas thnx alot to reply to my query... ATB
I was actually trying to figure out how Institutes actually Calcualte the Average Salary Figures. I was shocked to know that Several institutes including the top runs cook up these figures . Ideally it shd be the (total salary of all the acceptedoffers)/No of students appeared for the campus. But Actaully the usual practise is they calculate them by (total Salary of all Offered /No of students ).
Since the Number of offers of these top run colleges is always more than 1 the avegare salary shoots up .
Can the seniors throw some light on how the Average is calculated in XIMB. I'm sure XIMB is one of the last bastions of integrity
me in same confusion as u....... gt thru nmims n ximb......cant decide on which one 2 join this is my first post..... can u or anyone gimme sm help..... i'd be really grateful congratulations 2 all those who'v made it..
Thanx Kishore.. Then it can safely be conclude that XIMB may have higher average salary than some institutes who claim to be of the same Bracket.
As far as Comparasion betn NM & XIMB then XIMB it more popular among students & Teaching fraternity . But NM has definitely location Advantage.
But for NM there r couple of Points which in my opinion Shd be taken into account. 1) There are many colleges better than NM viz SP Jain,NITIE,SJMSOM, etc in Mumbai. KG Somaiah,Welinker etc etc r also there . So NM may have to fight out with these ppl. 2) Also Since the batch strength is Almost double that of XIMB so individuals may have to fight out for Better companies.
Also Companies go to B schools for reputation not for Location. As BBSR is connected to Most of the cities by Air link there shdn't be much prb for them.
(Statuary Warning: Take my opinions with pinch of Salt as I'm Planning to join XIMB )

Hi lets start a thread dedicated to this NM vs XIMB problem, since a lot of us are facing the same thin. Let Me know
XIMB does not offer any specialization.. the students, in the second year, can choose from an array of electives offered, based on their interest, with the placements in mind.. the certification does not specify any specialization.. so, one is free to take up courses as he/she feels.. there is no restriction as to taking up courses from a particular field only..
As we can see that we cannot compare two institutes on this forum, so i suggest that we can form a YAHOO GROUP.. what say ppl with the dilemma to choose one Bschool among 2-3 options. As far as i am concerned, i need to choose from XIMB/NMIMS/SIBM

Same here. I think iwould have to choose betwen sibm( selected), ximb(wl14), nm(rank 329) & may be imt (not selected in 1st list). So, lets form the yahoo group and do our comparisons. Btw, you can pm me the info you have on these instis. I will reply.
also i might get nm in round 2 (rank 252) but have decided to join XIMB after getting a feedback from many counsellors.
The more you listen to various comparisions the more confused you get. Everyone has their own viewpoint All colleges have their pros & cons, just make a self evaluation and see which course suits you best.
For me I find XIMB is much more academically incined. The call is yours.
