man after a sorry interview n gd..seeing that i got selected is really a shocker...
but happy anyways...was expecting xl n thought didnt hav ea tweeny weeny chance for this./. but i guess r ole reversals.....i have sibm call too...have a descision to make now abt which one to take...help me out guys...

hey guys this is my 1st post to the grp... I have got thru XIMB and NMIMS... Pretty confused which one to take.. I have a work ex of 1.5 yrs in infy.. can someone pl tell me which one is the better insti ????

hi tushar i can sympathize wit u coz i was suffering the same confusion n decided on ximb

i did that for different reasons but bfore giving tht i will tell u the pros n cons of both insti as far as i know ....

NMIMS:pros
1)Mumbai--supossedly a big pro as my TIME head told me..
2)gud placements
3)industry ineraction from early stages are good

cons:
1)doesnt hav a proper campus life coz no proper hostel .a male hostel coming up but wudnt complete so soon
2)pretty expensive the output aftr this investment wud b similar to tht of the fees etc so no gain
3)students mostly party a lot so studies hampered


XIMB:pros
1)great campus life
2)students are competitive in large numbers n do pay attention to stdies
3)gud companies go there n recruitment was 100% this time
4)infosys made 16 offers
5)recuiters started comparing it wit xlri n iim
6)for operations it is the second best aftr IIM-b

cons:
1)ppl outside do not really thnk it to b gud even though it is
2)administration strict --so thts partly gud too


i didnt thnk Mumbai is a gud enough reason for me to go there apart from tht no accomodation within campus is a big con for me... i m looking forward to great campus life

Just cheked the final list..180 calls have been issued for 120 seats...
So we have to add 60 to the given WL number....so wait for 71 more such posts....
If this is not the case...Can ne 1 tell the details..as per last yrs....

It is true that u shud add 60 to ur waitlist no.. since no called is 180 for120.
I actually checked on the last yrs thread which says if ur wl+60Me bordering on 40.. hopin for the best.
Seniors, y dont you help us by posting the wl that was cleared last time----pls help assuage our fears.....

The seniors at XIMB are busy with their summers so wont be replying.
However you can check out last years XIMB results thread.
Even last year 180 calls were made and wailist finally cleared upto smwhere betn 30-40.
The waitlist clearance depends on the number of ppl opting for the course so it may go up/down.
Anyways WL11-12 should clear for sure.
Also there is no seperate WL for domicile ppl. This is the final WL.

i agree with neha there.i had my nmims gd/pi at the institute itself and i was not very impressed.Moreover they hv a big batch size of 240 and i think getting them all placed is really a struggle considering they r nowhere near the other big batch instis like IIMC and A.But they do claim 100% placements which is most definitely due to their gr8 locational advantage.they might get good finance placements becoz of the mumbai location(Mumbai is the finance guy's paradise).But then again,Mumbai itself has atleast 4 instis better than nmims.So it finally boils down to ur own priorities.
Neha has presented a wonderful pro/con analysis but i hv only one points
XIMB being best for ops after IIMB is one hell of an overstatement.Have u forgotten the IITs and NITIE?ops is their bread and butter stuff.
And abt students partying a lot in mumbai,i think those who party wud party anywhere.Doesnt make a diff.
So, we r gonna rock the party in the otherwise drab bbsr.

Hello Friends,

One more Point i marked.Don't You think the Average figures of XIMB are a bit on lower side.
When other inst. r claiming of 5- 5.5 lakhs. ,4.5 is tooooooooooooooooooooooooo lowwwwwww.
