ncerts + mukul pathak sir's notes

Guys,

Don't want to spread any rumors but some friends of mine who are taking coaching in Delhi have informed me that they have been told that the notification is expected on 30th Oct. I am surprised as it never comes out that early. Any news ?

Is it true that when they changed the prelims pattern in 2011-12, UPSC actually gave out the notification early?

Cheers,
dj1

Hi Everyone,

l've an MBA from one of the IIMs and currently working in a private organisation in Sales & Marketing division as an Management Trainee. I'm not liking the sector as well as the profile. I've realised that I'm more of routine loving kind of person and hate hearing about profit and loss all the time. Hence I want to join the government service through UPSC or RBI. Even my parents and my relatives have been asking me to give UPSC atleast once. I have the following options:
1. Leave my job and start preparing for UPSC by joining a coaching institute.
2. Continue in my current job and prepare for UPSC side by side on my own.
I am willing to take the risk of leaving my job and preparing for UPSC, but what if I dont get into one of the Group A services even after 2 attempts? Can I get back into the private sector after a gap of about 2.5 years in a role similar or higher than what i'm currently working in? what are the career options available to me after that? One option that seems feasible is joining one of the private university in my home state as management faculty, as there is hardly anyone teaching there from an IIM, and start my career in the education field. I can pursue Phd and later get into a reputed Govt University. What do you guys say? I would like to know about those people who did their MBA from a premier institute but later left job and tried for UPSC but didnt succeed and then made it back into the corporate sector. Please reply soon. Regards

I dont think cracking UPSC will be a big deal since you have cracked CAT 😃 But yeah, it will take at least two years to crack... It is a very hard decision to make.. I have heard that some people left a very attractive job and then went to prepare for UPSC but they succeeded. So most probably you will also succeed 😃 why should you think about the worst scenerio :D
@axaxax Well in MBA we are made to think about the worst case scenario also. if i succeed everything will be fine, but what if i dont succeed. thats the question. Though i have confidence on myself that given two attempts i'll be able to get through. but just in case if i dont what are the options available to me?
@pahadimba
Well if u consider FMS,Delhi As a premier institute I Can exactly help in your question :)
