I would like to start my preparation for civil services exam 2013.
I am from hyderabad. I found some good coaching institutes here but the coaching fee is around 80k which is very expensive and out of my budget.
Can someone please suggest some websites for materials and resources to deal with the exam(prelims and mains) and also the required strategy.

EPFO is a statutory bodyan autonomous institution working under a Central Govt. ministryand all "Grade A" officers recruited to it are non-gazetted, non-ministerial officers, however, "Grade A" at 5400 Grade Pay (GP).

Yes, I agree that UPSC conducts exam for higher post , but its clearly mentioned in the notification,,,,so I think no doubt, APFC is good paying, high profile job , but in no way its Gazatted or Central Government job........

See the attached image with this post . I take the snapshot from the hindi edition of the Employment News Where its cleraly written that service Under EPFO Will b treated as Government Service and it is also a gazetted Post. Please see the Marked Item In the Image
No where it is written that EPFO AC is a gazetted post. Just being a post of 5400 gp is not enough for being a gazetted post. See in state government the gp of block development officer is 4600 and he is a gazetted officer. Naib tehsildar having 3600 gp is a gazetted post. In central secretariat the gp of a assistant section officer is 4600 but he is not a gazetted officer. He becomes gazetted only after getting promoted to section officer's grade which is a group b service with 4800 gp. Lecturers in inter colleges are not gazetted officers even after being placed in 4800 gp. So there is no direct relationship between gp and gazetted post. Epfo ac is so not a gazetted post. It seems strange but it is so.
Guys I dont know why people are not even beleiving UPSC
(which clearly mentioned post is neither Gazetted nor it would be Central Government job).
Way back I mentioned same thing but no one believed me(same as no one is beleiving UPSC)
But , I would like to say that be focussed for what we are here. Lets not indulge in any disputes and lets aim UPSC CIVIL SERVICES.

I Assume you are talking about Indian Economy For Gen Studies
Not For Optional Subject. If It s So then The Books you are Following are enough for the GS Economy Section plus add India Year Book too in ur list. (Read Finance, Commerce, Agriculture, Food & Civil supplies, Basic Eco. Data Corporate Affairs & Rural & Urban Development Chapters In The India Year Book ) Also Read Mrunal Patel' s Article On Indian Economy And Do 1 More Thing Just refer the previous questions in the economy section of the GS Paper becos u must know the nature the difficulty Level of the questions. As we all knows that the questions Nature in GS paper is Conceptual , So Read & Prepare The Topic In That Fashion
