This time the civil services preliminary exam was easier in comparison to the last year's exam or i am only just feeling it easy. Please throw some light on it. I have attempted 81 questions in paper 1 and 77 in paper 2. Prior to this after seeing the difficulty level of last year's paper i had decided to attempt only 50 questions in paper 1 and only 60 in paper 2. But i attempted much more questions than this.

I haven't seen Paper 2 of this year(was too easy in 2011) but Paper 1 was easier than 2011 and with same no. of ques. It has ques frm all subjects and most of them r clear & awareness based. In most ques elimination method wrks.
Lets see hw things will pan out in 2013 😉
Hi guys, after appearing for today's GS paper, it seems UPSC is more interested in testing general awareness than general knowledge. CSAT was replica of last year's paper in terms of pattern and difficulty level.

Though I am in Delhi... I dont want to go for coaching ( deliberately)

does upsc demand separate cut offs for paper 1 and 2 or a combined cut off? also when can we expect the results?
Done with the first UPSC paper
went in just to try how actually the exam feel is and came out feeling good about it!
The paper especially part 2 was quite easy while for Part 1(GS)..i am not the right person to comment as my preparations have not been there..had gone with a stragety that Science and technology GS, i will target and well it doesnt came out good!
Have seen 1 2 guys crying after paper 1
..realised how important this paper is for many of us as normally one sacrifices much more here than for cat preparations..

159(Paper 2)
total: 203..looks okk( though cutoff will be far higher than this)..considering the level of preparation..Now will use my left over 3 attempts with some preparation
P.S.and yes Section 2, last year and this year also is kind of paper where you just stand and deliver!almost like belter track..a little bit more serious contender can score of 170+!
and for section 1 where even in GS, eliminations do work!

Paper 1 - 59
Paper 2 - 149.38
Total - 208.38/400
These marks are as per career launcher.
I have a doubt friend do we have to clear both the sections or if someone clears the overall in the two will get through. In CL website they mentioned that overall cutoff. Can anyone tell me the best GS books for Prelim 2013. How r my marks can anyone give me a feedback i am just a starter.
