You can get it from any shop. If you can go to Delhi then get it from Daryaganj.

ok guys....they're abolishing the optionals from next year...there wud only be aptitudes from next year....

i for one am royally screwed....i'm a B.tech in computers...but since i wanted to be an IAS i've spent the last 2 years of my life studying history like crazy......i gave up my job at Dell to prepare for the civil services...i even refused an offer from Mphasis....and now they're saying i just wasted all that time....

if they wanted to introduce an apti test well and good...but why abolish the optional????

screw them...the clowns just ruined my life.....

got any idea what the new pattern wud be like..?? wud it be the same as CAT with a few decision making questions thrown in ...like in XAT...or wud it still retain some elements of the previous format like questions on indian history,Geography general awareness etc....or wud it be something totally diferent????

Has anyone not received their acknowledgement card yet?

Nopes!! See one of this post for answer:- http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career-discussions/48334-upsc-civil-services-6.html#post1888838

And you are not screwed. It has become a rational test.

The new format will only be applicable in 2011 at the earliest. So you still have this years exam that you can give with the same preperation. Secondly, The changes are just in the preliminary exam. So whatever you have studied is going to come in handy even in the 2011 exams. They abolished the optional in the preliminaries because it gave an edge to muggers with zero aptitude for a civil service job. Good move.

I have not received my acknowledgement card yet. I sent my application way before the deadline. Has everyone received theirs? Thanks.

mains and interview pattern would remain the same for 2011 . only prelims pattern is changing
Buddy..I am already into prep....

For Prelims....I can't take Managment as a subject....which I will be opting for mains as one subject..and 2nd subject is sth which i hve to decide..

Public ad and managment is not allowed as combination in Mains...

@Himanshu SPlit...

Thank you dude..for ur views...
I know its not a joke.....

But if i have thought and saying this..then i wopuld hve something in my mind....I know the pros and cons....

SInce for prelims i wish to take for 1 subject...and for that i am confused between Pub Ad or ECo....

and i do know what i mean....

My question was basically to the students who are pursuing MBA or those who have pursued.. and those who can compare the syllabus of Pub ad and Eco...

Buddy,...i hve not just posted this thread to increase my post..or else...

I just want toi have genuine suggestion..
if it cud help me....then it would be very nice....i have already narrowed down my choice....

out of two..io have to take one..for that i need some inputs...

I think you can take ECO for prelims.Contrary to popular opinion, its very safe in prelims.
AS for mains, I wud advise u to take Management as the second subject.
Pub. Ad. will never help in MBA and you need to have a look at wat they ask In pub ad and you will know what I mean to say.
Have a look at management papers as well.

I hope u r from engineering background:cheerio:
180/300 marks in Management Paper 2 are plain numericals from probability and optimization .

u can visit upsc-prelims.blogspot.com for Eco Pre guidance and upsc.gov.in for 2009 Mains paper

For Screening (Prelims) you will not require to opt any optional from 2011 onwards. There will be a common CSAT for everyone.

As far as coachings are concerned, you can join any IES coaching for your Electrical Engineering subject.

Hi,
I am getting very confused after reading various opinions about how to go for IAS Preparation.Which literature subject is the most scoring and which optional should I choose with electrical engineering for mains study in terms of scoring potential. Is management a good optional??..

If you want the Mains' blank answersheet then I have uploaded the pdf here:-

Notes | Palak Mathur

There are two links for the same. You can use any of them.

It has two pages so that one can take the printout on both sides of the sheet. You can take printouts and practice on the same.
