Why do you want to speculate? If you want let us start. You start with a post on this!!
Palak Mathur SaysWhy do you want to speculate? If you want let us start. You start with a post on this!!
I dnt wanna speculate...its just that it was my first attempt and result is still over a month away...its making me anxious!!
Plus..GS papers were pretty unpredictable and i could only attempt over 500 marks worth of questions..so i'm just looking forward to talking to ppl who are in the same place as i am!
So, how did ur GS papers go?...is this ur first attempt as well?

It was my third attempt. GS papers, rather whole exam remains unpredictable. And this will increase when optionals are removed. So, it is a part of game. Have you started preparing for interview?
Last year (not from any reliable source), following were the cut-offs:-
Interview cutoff :-
General : ~905
SC : ~870
ST : ~850
Final cutoff:-
general : ~1135
SC : ~1075
ST : ~1050
But I am not sure whether these are correct or not.

Just 5 days remainig 4 upsc notification...
Whats ur prediction regarding injection of new format??
BajiraoSingham sir!! :D
After spending so much time with UPSC, one thing which is predictable about UPSC is its unpredictability. So, better I will not predict. I will rather think (and my thinking can be wrong too) that UPSC will bring in a major change.
I got this link on the link on the net..
The Hindu : NATIONAL / NEW DELHI : Another change in the IAexam!!!
Ya final decision will be made by UPSC only
Thnks all
The Hindu : NATIONAL / NEW DELHI : Another change in the IAexam!!!
Changes likely in UPSC main exam from 2013 - Times Of India
UPSC to reform Civil Services (main) exam - Hindustan Times
I am having a feeling that they probably will not change mains syllabus for 2012 but 2013 definitly.
They probably come up with some notification as an heads up for the likely syllabus change for next year

Just 5 days remainig 4 upsc notification...

I don't think any big change is in offing this year....except for maybe few minor changes in syllabus perhaps...Even last year, UPSC came out with a notification regarding introduction of CSAT way before the exam notification. So if any such change was to be introduced we wud've known by now...
Rest we'll all know in 4 days.
Guy when is 'attempt' counted in the IAS exam timeline. Is it counted as an attempt if you take prelims. or after taking mains?
lemmings SaysGuy when is 'attempt' counted in the IAS exam timeline. Is it counted as an attempt if you take prelims. or after taking mains?
An attempt is counted when you write prelims.
@Palak ji
Suppose Tony has filled form of UPSC but
1.it was rejected due to some reasons due to wrong filling of data
2.it was accepted but he not attempted prelims..
In bott above cases will it counted as attempt??
NO! Filling of form - whether accepted or rejected - does not count as an attempt. Only when you write Prelims, does the attempt is counted.
