it is very optimisitic to see one of the top 25 is from management background which i(we) are about to embark on.
15 from the top 25 from engineering is again a good thing.

yeah! i like that... 15 from engg background.
with the exam getting more analytical...science students do have an edge over the humanities(for a change).

also, 8 of the top 25 have made it in their 1st attempt! :cheerio:

Yes, but not for a change (they are already enjoying good percentages, they will get just better)..

this is direct impact of the no.of people joining engineering stream soon after their 12th standard,as that ratio is very high,it is quite obvious to have atleast 60 percent in the top 25 from engineering background.

may be science people have an explicit edge but there are many things which are implicit wherein the people from arts, humanities and social sciences background have an edge and no one can dispute that fact.

percentages don't matter, not even an iota, the only thing that matters is the degree certificate and the degree of workmanship you put into your preparation

the 8 members clearing in their first attempt is really juicy to hear :)

whoever on this forum sincerely preparing for upsc and working hard and wish to be part of that esteemed lot, good luck

agree....its just the hard work put in this direction that matters the most. 'dedicated' preparation does have a lot of importance here.
8 toppers in the 1st attempt is very encouraging. motivates u to work hard and be optimistic! 😃

Err.. This is a slightly difficult question to answer...

Yes IAS can be done after MBA.

but if you REALLY want to try for IAS then I am not sure if it make sense to do an MBA first

when I say REALLY.. I mean

1)take a break from work etc.. and dedicate at least a full year for preparations.
2)in the event of not clearing in the first attempt, try again once or twice

The advantage in having an MBA is that you have a back up plan
