I don't have interest in Engg Optional.
I have good Interest in Economics & Maths and also have covered 50% of Maths Syllabus till Engg.

Hi friends I am a newbie for this thread... I am going to take CS exam in 2012. I always prefer online study so can you guys tell me any forum similar to 'pagalguy' dedicated for CS exam preparation. I may invite few groans but its very genuine question because puys here are more focussed towards MBA and not towards UPSC CS.

If you can prepare them well then they are good. It is not like some optionals are good and others bad.

Hi Roshni,

If you will see previous pages then I have posted on how to choose a subject. It should be what you are interested in or you are good at. Have a look at the list of subjects available and the combinations allowed and select your subjects. You should feel comfortable with the subjects because you have to stick to them for more than a year and study rigorously.

Hi people I want to appear for Civil Services exam in 2012. Right now i am doing my MBA from IIM Lucknow (Majoring in Finance and Economics). I did my engineering Computer Science - from BITS Pilani. Now i am really confused as far as optional subjects are concerned:
1. Physics - I really like the subject and understand it well. I have gone through the syllabus and apart from a few topics I am comfortable with the rest. But, on the flip side the subject is not relevant to my current field of study.
2. Economics: As i have already mentioned I am majoring in this. I understand and like it a lot. But, again after seeing the syllabus i think a lot is required to be done before I can claim to be comfortable in the subject.

Now i am really confused regarding the 2nd subject. 1st optional ill be opting will be either Pub. Ad or Management with a slight inclination towards public administration.

If any one can let me know about the pros and cons of taking physics, economics. And what all needs to be done in both the cases.

Other choices i have been recommended are :
a. Geography
b. Mathematics
please help me out. Thanks in advance.
