There are books "General Studies for IAS" and for IES published by MadeEasy Publications, New Delhi.
Ditto publications for English...
You can go to the UPSC website and download previous year papers...

Once upon a time, I cleared the UPSC prelim (2009) .
but no interview call due to low marks in Mains :(
Anyways, after glancing through this thread, I saw many newcomers have routine questions, let me clarify them all.
Simple answer: NO, because UPSC is constantly changing the pattern to put coaching classes at disadvantage. Myself twice victim of this, because I've been preparing with the coaching-class factory mindset in General studies.

No, UPSC doesn't reveals the cut-off for prelims.

It'll be at UPSC's discretion whether to accept it or not. So just feel safe, I think you should re-apply.
(don't worry double applications are allowed)

Quite less than CAT. From the sample paper uploaded on official UPSC site, it seems the difficulty level be equivalent or less than GMAT.

Some candidates had filled a case, supreme court ordered UPSC to disclose 2010 prelim's mark but they've not done it yet.
However with CSAT in place, they're most likely to start disclosing marks from 2011, as the 'subjectwise cut-off' thing will cease to exist.

For online (free) paper-sets goto UPSCportal website or visionias blog. They've about last 10 years' papers.

in upsc portal there are papers only for 2009 &2010 years.
on blog everything is haphazard & random.

may be you've not yet installed the 'security certificate'?
Or try different browser like firefox. But do disable the adblock plus / noscript or any such add-ons if you're using in the firefox.

same here....google chrome to part-1 bhi nahi karne de raha...
filled up part-1 through IE but it isnt allowin part-2 registration...
installed security certificate too but nuthin's workin...

Agree IE8 has glitches, I faced them too.
I've been able to finish the registration on Firefox browser And I suggest you two to do the same.
Chrome, Opera may not work because UPSC is providing that 'security certificate' thing only for IE and Firefox.
