Consider a typical Software Engineer(SE) working in TCS or any other service comapny with 3 yrs of exp.His salary will be between 4.5 & 5(LPA).If he/she moves to other service company,there will be 30-40% hike usually or minimum 20%.If moved to product based company,hike will be still more.Consider Salary :4.5 , Exp:3 yrsAfter Changing the job to other Service Comp:Salary becomes (20% hike) 5.4After Changing the job to Proudct based firm:Salary becomes (30% hike) 5.85If he wants to join MBA program of 2 yrs by spending minimum 10L,he has to think in such a way that:If he would have spent these 2 yrs in IT industry only,(Total exp : 5 yrs)Salray in the same service comapany would have become : 6.52 yr earnings : 9 LAfter Changing the job to other Service Comp:Salary becomes (30% hike) 8.45After Changing the job to Proudct based firm:Salary becomes (40% hike) 9.10If a typical SE with 3yrs exp wants to do MBA,he has to choose such a campus where he will be getting placed with minimum 10L.According to my opinion guys with 3 to 4 yrs exp in IT have to think wisely before selecting the college for MBA.P.S:Its totally based on assumption of numbers and completely my personal view.What u guys think about this ? Are you talking abt joining in IT sector post MBA ? N yes, proper choice of B-School will matter a lot.

@priyankanaik042 If ur college is C grade, then ur joinin date will be probably in Feb/March 2014.But not sure, TCS may change its allocation procedure for ILP at any time as it solely depends on it as mentioned by other puys.Hope for the best.
@hiteshpratap hi hitesh...i had 1 year of experiance in manual testing from jan-dec 2011 in a reputed level 5 MNC and my CTC is 3.25LPA . recently i cleared 2 rounds of technical and after 3days i will have hr interview in a CMMI level3 company...in hr interview they may ask about expected ctc.what i should answer for this question?i had more than a year gap, so what package i can expect? same CTC or some % of hike?
@binaravind Usually I have seen many ppl coming from cpg to tcs.If the package offered is good,he can go ahead.There will not be onsite opp as it is govt project.

@aimiim2012 April hike i e Bandwise hike purely depends on Comapny's performance in Q4 ending in March.Later the corporate will decide the percentage hike for each band like 15% for A,10% for B,5% for C like this.This is an example.Not sure whether they ll give or not.They may not give the hike to anybody if the coampny's profit does not reach to the expected level. If u had not any D band before,u ll bcome ITA after completing 4 yrs for which ur current supervisor has to initiate the promotion process in the beginning of the Quarter.U ll get around 6 on becoming ITA.
@dvchinmaya okk.thanx.but still have some doubts if clarified it will be gud. as u said current supervisor has to initiate the promotion process in the beginning of the Quarter so for my case he/she wud initiate in Q4 as i will be completing 4 yrs on nov30 2013 ? If initiated then how much time does it take ? In 2014 when i will get performance band then revision of package will be on my new ITA package or something other? plz reply..thanx
@aimiim2012 If initiated in Q4,they will give promotion only if comapany's perfomance is good in that Q.It may take 2 to 3 months for completion.You will get 2 hikes if u get promoted at the end of Q4.One is promotion hike and the other is band hike.If u r promoted at the end of Q4,ur band hike ll b on ur ITA package.
@dvchinmaya ideally when shud i think of changing jobs keeping the above facts in mind and if i want to continue in IT then what shud be done in future..? now i am searching for a project in tcs got released from prev project.my focus is onsite as well already spent 3 yrs in internal project.so wat shud be done.
