@paridhi11890 The salary for freshers in TCS is 3.16 LPA. It will be increased after the completion of one year when u become ASE . It will range between 3.4 - 3.6 depending on the rating (3-5)
Only after the completion of two years does the salary become more than 4 LPA. 4.2 for C band , 4.5 for B band and 4.8 for A band.
@bittu101 Dont worry. That wont happen unless and until ur manager hates u. Even if u come to office and sit in ur place quietly , u will get C . I guess for D, its 3.8 (not very sure thought) but somewhere in this range.
Can you give a rough idea about what exactly Business Analysts do? what is IT consulting?
can i say in my MBA interview is that my short term goal is working as a BA in a top IT company and my long term goal is to attain senior management position in IT Consulting??
@Rockyan : Business Analysts are the link between the technical team in the IT firm and the clients . They understand the requirements of the client and work on the BRD and SRS . And tell the requirements to the technical team who implement the solution. BA's also work on finalizing the project timelines and when work is done , get the sign off . These are few of the functions of BA. For becoming a BA , one doesnt necessarily need an MBA . But generally most of the MBA grads join IT firms as Business Analyst .
U can mention it in ur interview. But also need to justify why do u want to work as a BA and what skills will u gain from ur MBA that ll help u for this role.
@Rockyan : IT consulting is something that all the IT employees do. U specialize in a particular area like SAP , TeamCenter or anything else. And u guide the implementation of that for a client. Consultants are generally regarded as experts of a given field .They have good technical and domain knowledge as well.
Many roles after MBA in IT industry are related to IT consulting like SAP consultant , etc. So one can mention that. Apart from technical consulting , there are domain consultants , strategic consultants , pre sales consultants in the IT filed . U can read more about consulting on the below thread :

Thanks bro...your detailed answers are much appreciated
Please clarify. I am currently working with TCS with 3 years experience and 4.85L package. If I do MBA from a Tier 2 college and join back TCS, what is the pay that I can expect.
with 30% hike, offer looks good. But if you are working in niche technology, you can negotiate. And if you are aspinring for an onsite, let TCS know at the time of your joining.
