Best strategy is to get an IT job and prepare for CAT. Whether u r on bench or working religiously will hardly matter after MBA. It just duznt matter if u r Biotech grad...BTech/BE in IT and a job in IT are 2 different things and do not go hand in hand. Now u may decide urself.
1) Obviously IT job is pretty much the same for IT or non IT guys . Ppl from any branch can do well . But definitely if one is not interested , better find something else that interests u. Rite ??
2) In case , there is is no such special liking for anything else and the only aim is YEM.BEE.YAY , then one can join an IT company . For 3 months in training + (at least 3 months on bench) , hardly any work will be there , so one can easily prepare for CAT . Plus Salary for free
I am a System Engineer at TCS (Telecom domain-functional)with 2.2 years of work-ex.Wrote CAT and other exams this year but failed to score well(85.xx%).I want to do MBA-HR specifically. If i prepare for next year, what work profile should i pick here to gain a RELEVANT work-ex for HR.Also,i will be 3.2 years experienced next year.Would 3+ work-ex prove a hurdle for MBA-HR?
@mits: An analyst or a BA in TCS gets anywhere between 8.5 to 11.5 lpa. The work life balance is very much dependent on ur boss...ranges from the mild to the frustrating. So cant really take a call on that.
HI frnd,
My prfile -- 5.5 years wrk ex in tcs as java developer, 7.5 lakh package. I am awaiting results of mdi, iims. I wann knw wat career options i have after mba in tcs and wat package is tcs likely to give to a person of my profile. Do I stand any onsite chances after mba in tcs. And also please highlight the specialisation I must choose in order to best utilize my mba. Thanks.
U can try for some SAP project. Otherwise also i think 3+ years wont be a much problem. Just dont tell them in interview what u were actually doing. Mayb u can cook up some story for the interview. Ist thing is get a good score at CAT.

I am a 1.4 yrs exp in TCS. As far as I see.... working in night shifts in Support .... people just relax... until any issue comes.... so its not that bad....
It does not matter actually in the filed of HR. As if you see the HR profiles, most of the people don't have any relevant experience. Our education system does not offer any relevant experience in HR.
So you don't need to worry about it. The only problem you may face is some companies prefer freshers for placements which you cant help. So don't worry.
Try to be proactive and ask your HR or RMG if you can offer them some help without affecting your own project proactively. If you can get that, your resume will contain something of the relevance.

Normally work load will not be that tough. Pressure comes only when there is some issue in production and you don't have any onsite support. But it doesn't happen daily. Once in a blue moon.
Only thing which is going to test you is your physical stamina as you need to cope up with changing timings, food and sleep habits.
Hi guys, Ive completed my MCA and went to pursue MSc Business IT from UK and came back to India in search of a job. it was recession and i couldnt get a proper job, so i joined as a Presales Executive in a Biometric manufacturing company for a year and then joined TCS-BPO (Grade: BPO2) in 2009 and now moved to TCS-IT SAP-ABAP. What will be the equivalent grade in IT? How much will be the salary??? My current CTC is 2.65 LPA. Please advice..
when will tcs conduct any off campus for freshers? Seniors help.
TCS does indeed conduct lots of off-campus recruitment in tie ups with groups of colleges, or for colleges under a University. The procedure is more or less similar to on-campus, except that the number of applicants, and hence the competition, is going to be very high.

But last year, they had recruited through off-campus and my seniors were placed also. It seems they are not going to recruit us
Can you provide me an insight and your valuable inputs to the below. wise
if I am planning to move back to India with 12+ years exp and consider tcs , what would be i should be looking at designation.
Advantage I am having is I am working in their project in usa through a consultant for 1+ year in 2 projects(in usa).hence all my credentials already verified and bg checks very clear greeeen. Initial 7 years in India and later 5 years expe in usa. Entire career usa was more like real exposure expe with 4-5 clients merely not a onsite (working from diff location). Since I am working already (as a nonemployee) technical wise, leading, working with offshore folks etc I am good and they too know about it.
These days if we go outside then stampings etc outside is becoming a bit tough. So I am planning to have a backup incase if I cant be here and move back to India. Either I can work in same proj as well ,as or be a leader handling people and support tech wise also. if it helps then i can also get clientmanager references
I also did my study from reputed private college where tcs had come longback for campusplacement .
For 12+ exp . . you would get Associate consultant position in TCS.its more like Project Manager role Package wise i think it would be 12+ Lakhs/anum and negotiable.
Project wise you could get attached to same client if your odc exists in india.
Hi, I am studying final year engineering and got placed in TCS. I have also been selected to do an MBA at BIM. Which is wiser option? doing MBA at BIM or take up a job at TCS. With undergraduate degree, shall I be able to attain the same growth as an MBA employee attains at TCS?At TCS, can the BE student get System Analyst posting and go beyond that?
Doing an MBA without work ex is like eating food without garnishing and spices ....work for 2-3 years , see what the real world looks like , then aim for an MBA , I am amazed at how people get worked up about stuff like future prospects et al even when they are yet to start their professional life !! You will come to know every ounce of yr capability once you start working and then u wont need to ask these questions..

Hi,
I did my engineering, and worked in TCS too, and have just resigned to do an MBA. The question you asked has no definite answer. One can do an MBA either to switch careers, or gain a career advancement in the same industry/company with an MBA.
You need to decide what type of career you want. In any industry, to progress, you need to have a mix of competency and experience. An MBA is a partial substitute for the experience.
If you want a career in IT, then I'd advise you to work for a few years and then do an MBA after which you can get really good profiles in IT placements. If you're looking for something else - say core Marketing or Finance type profiles, then your work experience might not help you much. You could just take up BIM.
However, in terms of maturity and exposure, a work experience would definitely help you.
Hi guyz, I got recruited by TCS in Infrastructure Services profile. All my other frnds were recruited in General profile and they got their joining dates and location. Whereas I didn't receive any such mail. What to dao? Getting tensed.
I have been posted to GCP.. Could u provide info about this division/dept of TCS? what kind of works are we given? Experience? -Hectiness in office hours and frequency of transfers in india? -going abroad(i hope not in the first 2 years) Exposure to SAP or Oracle?
