Sibm-bangalore ge/pi related discussions

@mohaishw

The same thing happened to me as well.
The questions were far from direct but they were fairly basic.

Now if only they'd declare the merit list so that I can breathe a sigh of relief (or have a coronary, depending on the end result. )
@AintSaint LOL TRUE that!!
Desparately waiting for the merit list

after SIBM Pune and SCMHRD rejects........SIBM Bangalore u r my only hope......ab tum bhi dhoka mat dena.....:'(

puys i read tht sibm bnglre list will be out on 13 march?? is it true ???

Hi all :)

I guess we all are feeling the jitters! I have heard that SIBM-B admissions (like all the other instis under SIU) move according to the SNAP percentile; as in, a person having a %ile of 96 but with a mediocre GDPI will always have an upper hand over a person with 92%ile and a better GDPI. Is this the real case?

@sk2009

(I hope that someone corrects me if I'm wrong but) I remember reading somewhere that the weight-age is:

40% SNAP Score
20% Work Ex/Acad
20% GD (+SOP)
20% PI (+Extempore)

Not sure how legit this is but it seems fair enough to me.

yup dis is right division :)

15 min for GD is really less time with a panel of 13 people. Had a mediocre GD but contributed a valid points like GDP , Aadhar, Food security bill etc... Again screwed with summary.
My extempore was "Exclamation mark" which was very abstract and couldn't contribute more
other than it depicts human emotions and gave an example of zoo-zoos.
My SOP was good and impressed with my idea of setting up a print media house.
But again they didnt get convinced an idea of doing MBA when coming from an IT field.
Interview sucked.
Mixed opinions.

FIngers crossed.

Even I was left wondering why we had 15 students in the GD when we were given barely 10-11 minutes. It kind of ruins the purpose of having a Group Discussion because everyone was busy hurling random points at each other and no one was actually listening to the other person.

Since a GD is conducted to gauge how you would react in a similar corporate scenario, all I can say is that I sincerely hope that such a situation- where a large group of random people are shoved together to reach a consensus amidst a severe time crunch- doesn't actually happen in corporates. (Or maybe it does 😛 My lack of work experience might be the reason why I was so bewildered by the whole process)
@AintSaint agree with u on gd part thats why i guess gd wont be a decider and it wont cntribte much in final selectn...bt still i believe my chncs are bleak(even with 96percntle in snap) bcz of my pi in which they proved me wrong on every ans and to an extent made me frustrate also..
@mitchell

It probably depends on the context itself but I don't think that it's ever about 'right' or 'wrong'.
The entire concept of 'being right' is relative and is always open for debate.

In my case, for the entire duration of the interview, the three panellists kept on insisting that my thought process is flawed and after a couple of years, once I'm mature enough to understand life, I would agree with them.
I still went on to disagree with them.

At the end of the PI, they seemed satisfied with my answers ( Even though our views about the topic at hand were completely diverse and I refused to budge ) and were even sweet enough to mention that I did well in the PI.

You can never say how a good or bad PI went until you get the final result. We (MBA aspirants) are just mere mortals who can't possibly know everything about everything. And thankfully, I don't think that's what B-Schools are looking for anyway.

ATB I'm sure things would work out for the best

@ Everyone.....Leave the gyan to the gyani's yaar! Chillax!...everything will work out to be fine in the end...ATB!

Had GD/PI session on 25th 1:00 PM

1) Had a horrible GD , with 16 people in the group
Was just able to make 3-4 points..summary was just okayish

2) Horrible start to PI with in extempore..Bazinga ho gya seriously..anyway just spoke somehow for 80-85 seconds.

3) They directly started with why ready to leave such a good MNC (arey bhai ab aapko nahin pata toh kise pata )

Then they later asked me regarding my SOP a lot..with counter question for almost every question answer from my side.

They grilled me on part that I can start my business immediately without the MBA rather then spending 10 lakh+ on MBA part and then starting the business

Then they questioned me on my work experience part. How I am utilizing my certification experience in my job. (well handled that)

In the end, I had to sell my business plan to a panel member assuming that he was a customer for the business. I hope that I was able to do justice with this .

Not very hopeful of conversion but still B+

PS :: This was one of the very well PI setup where they laid more emphasis on the personality and judging the traits of the person rather than the Acads part
The ability to handle stress was checked most of the time in the interview.

SIBM-B Students were very co-operative and the entire process was very smooth.
Can we have the presentation videos here in some time

@AintSaint ya agree with u pal..hopefully we"l gt more choices to play with.

Hi Puys!

11 days of exhaustive yet exciting process, it was a real fun meeting you guys. It was nostalgic to see the energy, the anxiety and enthusiasm in all of you! At the same time it was heartening to see the reputation and the interest shown by the candidates in SIBM-B which has grown every year.

Thank you all for being so patient and cooperative and now that it's over, just sit back, relax, enjoy the time (ofcourse prepare for other GE/PI processes if any). Don't think much about the results which anyways have to come.

Meanwhile keep shooting questions you have! :)
