i think we all know wht are the different rounds in TAPMIs final selection ........but i really dunno how do i develop myself to get thru tthese rounds and get tht all important final call..........i think for guys like me who have only one call it becomes very essential to really work for this final call.........so if some of u cud share things tht u guys r doin which will help u in GD PI EXTEMPORE........it wud be extremely helpful.......
i mean to say we can use this thread to discuss the kind of books we r reading , the kind of practise we r doin for GD PI, the material which is helpful for same.......etc etc....
so guys keep posting.....and all the best to everyone.......
by the way my interview is on 19h feb will reach manipal on 18th morning....m from mumbai....anyone else of same date let me know......
another thing guys can somene tell me which is a nice hotel to stay inn .....and not very expensive ones....(Rs 500 -600 per day)
and was very happy to see TAPMIs avg salary goin up by 30% to around 4.40 lacs..... 
hope the figure keeps goin up ..........

hope all of you are trying hard to become our juniors.....last few days had been real euphoric here...though every day in TAPMI is like that....but these few days had been special....after all we along with our seniors were busy with placement season....as we were working very hard with the arrangements n all we called it placement fortnight....but when our placement "fortnight" started...it did'nt last even for 14 hrs....with in few hrs all our senies were with spot offers....highest package was offered by wipro....moreover....one of the world's top consulting firm "grand thorton" came to india for the first time....and they were here at TAPMI....so I hope this will put all of you at ease and will motivate to work hard to get here....do it ppl
the fee which I have told u all is the tuition fee....hostel mess is over that....I guess everything is mentioned in the brochure...anyways...there is no set topic for GD....cases may well be there....so prep accordingly
do not take too much pressure about various rounds....prepare normally as you do for other instts and do your best in all of them
in 500-600....u will get a classy hotel...300 is enough to get a good one....hotels and all are not that costly here....don't wory
there are frequent busses from b'lore to manipal....start from 8:00 pm and you keep getting them till 10:30....normally they take around 9-11 hrs....

I am in touch with your mails last from many days, Most of you are looking very tensed about admission in tapmi. As many of my friends (syed , jasprit) are in regular touch with you in this regard.I think you all get the best persons to reply your queries.
Dont worry people, we all will be there to help you from date 23rd feb to 27th feb. people who have gd/pi before this date......they also dont need to worry because our seniours are with you to help you.....
I just want to share my experience with you all regarding my tapmi gd/pi,i had call from five coll. (NIRMA , K.J SOMMAYA , IMI ,TAPMI ) and i convert three from above calls........i found that tapmi's selection is most rigorious ....well there are many stages of selection process (GD , peronal interview , extempor , final interview )
Every stage is important.....but dont take tension....just be confident and believe in your self.....( little bit guess....)...

me part of the pgp I batch as well and i have been in touch with this thread since it started, i must say jassi has been doing a damn fine job of being prompt of answering most of ur queries ......just a couple of questions regarding lateral placement that i thought i might address here....
the top 3 jobs this yr, which was offered by Wipro, were for laterals.....all of them above 6.3 lacs p.a in basic pay..so to people like CrazyMaverick ( who has got a friggin good percentile at 94.9 AND work exp, i say RELAX!! Dude, u seriously dint think that ur work exp was all gonna be a big waste now, did u ?!?!
so to everyone out there, just relax and be confident of urself....prep well with ur graduate stream stuff....and heres a lil tip for the GDs, dont shout at the top of ur voice (u aint there to prove u have perfectly functional lungs) and dont mumble either ( u aint involved in a soliloquy either) . State what u have to say firmly yet politely.....
i know these thoughts are pretty much random but yeah i am pretty much puttin into words whatever goin thru my head right now...

yeah, this regarding the lateral placement scene......the guys who got the top two jobs had work exp in the IT field and had specialized in Marketing/systems( one of them had his work exp in Wipro itself).....
the IT companies that did come here this time round were not goin by any specialization however, primarily 'cos they have huge needs for marketing peeps just as systems people, so anybody and everyone who fits their profile is welcome aboard! ( more like a free for all i wld say!)
for Sahaamity, i'd say ur physics background will ALMOST fade into irrelevance 'cos of ur work exp....i say at max there wld be two-three questions...the questions will be more focussed on ur work exp, ur job profile, ur work responsibilities and so on and so forth.....
in ur case, i did say, they might end up asking questions like "why physics, why not the more ubiquitous B.Tech" and "why a company like e-serve after ur background in Physics?"...sit back and think over these...

The placement scene for freshers from a finance spec was good...the highest pay package for finance was from Darashaw, offering 5 p.a (basic) plus incentives(which i clarify on and will let u know laters).......the other companies offering as good pay packages for finance were Grant Thorton,AFF,CARE,HDFC,CRISIL and FirstGLobal....
E-serve is another company that has consistently looked for finance specialists(including this year)....some companies like Bank of Baroda and Deloitte were slated to come but dint, or rather couldnt, 'cos all the students were already picked up by the rest of the companies..And remember, these r just hardcore finance companies ......there r companies like e-serve who go finance profiels as well.
So whats say now? think i made a diff to ur decisions ?!

i just want to add to the information provided by RigorMortis, Darashaw offered the package of 6 lacks and we had other offers also for finance people .....like wipro, kotak mahindra etc , which were not the core finance jobs.

no touch about engineering after that.
1)What kind of question? can i expect in pi?
2) i had adropped year in engineering..but my work exe has compensated that .i was a star performer in my company.
