I guess no one can ever be sure abt placements etc, but one things for sure, TAPMI's got some gr8 ppl!! 😃 one good reason to join TAPMI, and believe me considering the fact that I am gonna spend 2 yrs there its a BIG reason for me!! 
This time on colleges have kept their cutoffs real high, MDI not calling below 97, and even IMT sticking at 96, so with 94.98 i guess TAPMI is my best bet... and i am quite happy aspiring to be a TAPMIan, of course PROVIDED i can crack the next rounds of selection....
Rigor just a few more queries....
1. Does the CAT score go defunct after the first round of selections, or does it hold weightage even in the final selections?
2. Any idea abt how much weightage experience wud have?? I have 1 yr experience in Wipro (i am an electronics engineer) and 7 months experience as a free lance recruitment consultant handling big clients like GE, Hutch etc...
3. I am sincerely hope that they dont ask me anything from my acads, I am absolutely not in touch, and with my job pressure i'm not having any time to brush up, so do ya think i shud quit my job and prepare my acads, or do ya think that it isnt important??

I scored 94.6%ile in Cat and am a fresher with an IT background.I have intereset in the networking aspect of computers but no interest in programming whatsoever.
Will programming questions be asked or will it be sufficient if I learn the basic concepts such as those relating to oops.Also how detailed a study should I conduct for Networking or will osi/tcp/ip,line configyrations,routers etc suffice.

hey tapmi seniors plz help me out.I have a tapmi call and my brother is a pass out from there almost 2 years back,he is presently in icici in a very good post and this was a campus placement.
I have visited manipal and seen the institute my self and liked it.what i do not understand is that i am hearing conflcting views about tapmi.what is the reason for alll this bad publicity tapmi seems to be getting.
plz give me an idea of the faculty,their teaching and the general environment in tapmi.

those of you who have their interviews from 23rd to 27th will have a chance to meet us....we won't be here from 13th to 22nd.....hope u guys will do well....its good that u all are taking ur further selection procedure so seriously
CAT score does'nt get defunct after 1st round.....it remains a very important component till ur final selection...experience carries a lot of weightage.....be very confident in answering questions related to ur job and be very thorough with that....acads is not that important for those who have work-ex.....just get ur basics right....no need to quit ur job to prepare for the acads....in interviews u will always be asked on ur favourite areas.....so be it networking or programming...u must be able to satisfy the interviewers that u have done justice with ur areas of interest....u can always tell them....networking but not programming etc....
I will advice u all that do not be over conscious about anything....just get the basics right.....and relax....if its ur day no one can stop u....do not over do anything and do not over burden urself.....

Well i am an Architect by profession...and my CAT percentile..is absolute bad...@ 90.93...but have got a worex of 2 years....but that too n very different fields....of architecture and Imports...so what do u think are my chances.......

i must say i am not entirely aware of the various weightages given to the different parameters, but yes the CAT score does carry a definite weightage for the final selections as well..........as to how much or how little, i am not sure.......but that doesnt mean, u get the right to be complacent either.......everyone out there is gonna do their best and if u think u can rest on ur CAT percentile to get u thru, rest assured ur chances of gettin in will go for a toss....
at this stage, i wld honestly suggest everyone to just perk up on all possible questions and answers and sharpen ur GD skills ( I MEAN GD skills and NOT heckling skills!) ....u cant do anythin abt ur CAT score, so why bother losing sleep over the weightage over and stuff like that, over which u have no control anyways ?!?!
like i said, i am a trifle ignorant abt the weightages allotted to the varioous parameters, but ur work exp sounds good to me....and every b-school looks to have people with work exp....so if u can prove that u have decent communication skills ( read GD and extempore and practically every other round in the selection process) to go along with ur work exp, well i wld say i have a fairly good chance of gettin to rag ur ass when u get in here!!
after 19mths of work exp, i'd say the chances of any questions comin from ur acad background is practically nil.......try and brush up on the basics, like jassi said...u need to know what u have done but if i were in ur shoes, i wldnt loose sleep over my lack of knowledge in my acads!....but then again , i guess that me.......just be confident of urself 'cos that confidence comes thru in the various rounds, and at the end of the day thats what counts.

i didt my BE from MIT, manipal.. my college is attached to TAPMI itself.. same building..
during my four years there, i havnt heard any thing like this b4..
regarding eating places.. there are many many many places.... trust me.. if u are sea-food freak.. that is a heaven
PS: oye jasprit.... tapame mess kaisa hai abhi.. (annapoorna se woh better tha ..).. missing yaar those days.. manipal is the best place to enjoy..

Tis good to know that the seniors have an evil side too... was close to thinking that after the wild days i have spent, itd actually be difficult living with saints I'm from a Maharashtra engineering college, so have seen a lot of really bad ragging, can anything be worse than that?? Jokes apart, do B-school creatures find time to come out from their intellectual trance and rag??
I think I've got decent communication skills, have been yrs Maharashtra State Debating champion in a row.... so dont think i have much probs in communications... so i guess i can handle the GD { and I DONT actually prove my shouting capabilities in a GD :!: } but the interview is wat scares me the most... my weaknesses are acads and General knowledge, if one is working 14 hours a day he doesnt actually get a lot of time to read the newspaper, but i AM trying...
As far as scores are concerned, with my 94.98 i am actually in the lower bracket, I know of a freind with 96 and one with 98.5 :!: :!: who will be at least appearing for TAPMI... though i dont know how seriously they'll be taking it, both have calls from MDI and SCMHRD
Also Rigor and Jasprit, I'd like u to please give me ur opinions on this.. I have a call from FORE school of management, Delhi and the date is clashing with TAPMI 21st Feb.. had called Prof. Simon George, who told me to just fill up the date i want the interview to changed to in the acknowledgement slip and send it to them... i am still undecided, shud i just leave the FORE interview or get the date changed?? If i send the desired date thru the acknowledgement slip, how will i get a confirmation for the same...??

nice to see such a good discussion is going on.....regarding what rigor mentioned about ragging....do not worry....its not like our engg ragging...its just an interaction...as we call it....its not ragging
do not be scared about interviews.....be confident...."battles are won and lost in mind".....so do not loose it in mind....also encash on ur communication skills....at present I will say that do not miss any interview....attend all the interviews.....be it FORE or IMI.....whatever....1ce you get finally into TAPMI then ofcourse do not give second thought to all these.....about the desired date...you can get the confirmation by calling admission office.....no probs with that.....
TAPMI mess is still the best in MANIPAL.....sorry dude....I do not need Down Town or sigma either....a teetotaler....anyways....
about strictness....yeah...TAPMI administration is strict.....I will say discipline is at the core of TAPMI along with honesty.....honesty is not the best policy....infact....it is the only policy.....if you can not follow the rules....you are gone...ofcourse the students who were asked to leave the program in the middle are those who themselves were at fault
kapu beach and saiba are perfectly OK...waiting for you to come.....ATHARVA...the annual B-school fest of TAPMI was completed with full blast.....with yukta mukhi being the chief guest on the final day.....VP mktg OF IBM also graced the occassion.....all top brands of corporate world were fighting among themselves to sponsor the various events....students from the b-schools across the country like IIMs,XL,MDI,NITIE,NMIMS,IIFT were here to compete against eachother....lots of more things to tell...but later....

I had a query, the letter says REFERENCE LETTER
So is not just a formality, becasue a recommendation letter is altogether a different thing, and we require just a reference letter. is it not ?
Can someone clarify the same ?

do not worry much about the reference letter.....just a formal letter signed by ur principle or employer as the case may be.....sometimes it is not asked even
