Companies go for relevant work experience. So a work-ex in TCS for a Bank as a client is not considered by a FMCG company for a profile like Area Sales Manager.
In your case, if let us say you apply for a Instructional/Training Design or a likewise profile, your experience might be counted. But it would not be counted for a profile like recruitment associate or profiles in marketing/finance.
Hi....I dont know whether this is the right place to put my query or not. In case it is not, I apologize. I had applied for the post of analyst(Market Research) in IMRB and even got my first interview cleared. Now they have asked me to come for a test on 2nd July. When I enquired about the content of the test, the only answer I got was that the test will have multiple choice questions related to maths, data analysis and computers. I didn't feel it right to ask about the difficulty level or any other detail. Does anyone have any idea about the topics or difficulty level of the questions which they may ask? Please help....
As i can make out from your job profile , its very physically demanding , and you also dont see a future in the same field. If you feel , this job will hamper your preparation and you can't balance the two. Then u can take the decision of quiting, although , i suggest everyone not to quit so as to have some back up.
Bro dont worry about justification of quiting a job , always be honest with your answer , you can justify your case , if you truly believe what you did was best for your interest
Right now think about , whether , you can prepare and continue with the current job
Secondly , do you see any future and interest in the field you are currently working in
Thirdly , are you ready to face the scenario of not getting into a desired B-School this year and have to try another year(this is worst case scenario offcourse)

One thing i would like to know whether teaching experience would make up for a year drop......I think i can convince the panel about health problems due to very harsh factory environment.....
hiiiiii everyone......... here goes my situation and query............ i hv done my engg in computer science with aggr-65.88%........when i was in third year all my frndz joined private coaching classes 4 mba preparation........that time i wasnt sure abt weather to go 4 mba or for job.......moreover at that time my financial condition was weak so i cudnt even afford to give various exams...........but nw since i hav completed my engg and financial conditions also hav improved and also didnt get job thru campus so mba is only option left in front of me...........so nw unwillingly i hav to take a drop of year and prepare 4 cat and cet...........in such scenario wt shud i do ........also i wont be able to manage job which demands heavy working hours......... so shud i submit drop certi?...........shud i do a less profile job like lecturership 4 a year ?.........or shud i sit n just prepare 4 mba entrances?...........or shud i do a course in .net or oracle 4 six monthes and then take up a job?...
I'm currently pursuing MBA from SIMS(just joined), Pune after having completed BBA from Pune itself.
Now the work that is meaningful to me is entirely different from what an MBA offers.I want to be a sports broadcaster .But to have a back-up and also to complete the 16 yrs of formal education criteria required to apply in univs offerng journalsim courses in the US , i'm doing an MBA as of now.
Now here's the dilemma i'm facing - do i continue pursuing MBA OR quit this course, work for an year and simultaneously do a PGDM (finance) which is a 1 yr course.It is a part time course offered by symbiosis.will such a course be counted as 1 year of formal education???
Any other kind of advice would be highly appreciated too.
now i am in big trouble . . and i am totaly confused so tell me what to i am a 2010 b.tech pass out student and currently i am preparing for cat 2010 but a miss fortune happens with me that i got a supply in one of my btech paper and if i give the re exam then my result came in september 2011 so should i continue preperation for mba or drop it . . . because i dont know till counseling i have certificates in my hand or not. . . my past history are 10+12btech 66% with one standing sply and 2yr gap between btech and 12th currently preparing for cat and job searching also . . so plz suggesed what to do that i search job or prepare for mba ???

hi, my suggestion will be that you continue job search along with t preperation and get a job first. As say you quit job search and do prep ful time ane then you cm to knw that they want passing certificaate that will be really bad. Also what i feel from your past scores i, a workex will do gudd to your profile. Meanwhile you can do dome short term courses also to improve your CV.

Had to quote the entire post, it seems that you have confusion in many areas. Have highlighted some of them.
First of all, relax, sit down and do some serious planning. Make a priority list. Write down your career objectives, what you want to do in life, where you see yourself 5 years from now, and finally 'How are you going to achieve and implement your goals.'
First of all, let me say that MBA is NOT the only option you have. Look around you- There are scores of ways of fulfulling your ambition without an MBA. It may sound harsh but I feel that you are being slightly narrow-minded over here. Just because everyone else is doing MBA does not mean you have to do it as well. Where do you want your career to be headed? Are you a technical person or do you want to work in a Finance, Marketing, etc line? Do a proper self analysis first, ie SWOT.
Secondly, why can't you manage to do a job which demands high number of working hours? Unless you have some personal problem, you should be able to work as per the requirement. There are millions of people fighting it out to get a single job without considering the consequences. But if you indeed have a genuine problem, there is no harm in doing the work of a lecturer. You can even join an NGO and contribute if you get the time.
I would suggest that you should be doing something along with CAT preparation instead of sitting idle. Whether you should do an IT related course depends on which type of job you are aiming for. Don't blindly do some Computer course in the belief that it will automatically land you a job. It will certainly give you additional skills.

Yes teaching experience , will definitely count , but just dont do it for certificate , try join a coaching institute , that will help you in your preparation
Also you can try in the various NGO programs as well
hi... most imp is ur degree....so u hav it first....and do prepare very well for ur cat...and give the xm so that u can know the level of ur prep....and next year u ll b prepared...bt u have to give ur best this year too... next find out wats ur real interest..if its software then get into small firm which may pay u less...no probs..or in marketing...get a work in a showroom as an executive paid less..or in a bank as a finance...or in an ngo...and get ur job experience.....and lastly dnt get panicked.........plz b unique...dnt go with the flow........

Well...in that case you can always ask for a delay in joining giving some reasons....you being an engineer can cook any reason for that(we have this quality...didn't we??)....as far as the submission of documents are concerned-get a provisional certificate issued from your college and I think there won't be any problem in that....I remember doing the same thing and then my company did asked for the certificates after 6 months of joining..well my company was not accenture but one among the top three s/w company...I think there shouldn't be any problem!!

Well...I guess working as a lecturer would be more beneficial for you....consider this---You'll be working with NGO not to gain any experience but to make your profile stronger(Correct me if I'm wrong).Now Working for NGO can be quite a tiresome job and after 1-2 month you'll be feeling that you are not getting enough time for your CAT preparation.This is a major issue and I've read the same problem faced by a fresher who was working for NGO(I can't remember the exact thread where I read that in Pagalguy)....On the other hand if you start working as a lecture in some engg. college it won't consume too many hours of your day(all know how much an engineer studies or goes to a lecture class)...So you'll be left with loads of time to prepare for CAT and other MBA exams!!!
I am looking forward to leave my current job and join some good coaching institute as FACULTY(quants).I am sure i would get such kind of job.i believe i would then be able to concentrate fully on CAT and related exams.it is my last try for CAT.I have been trying for past 3 years.I am aiming high for some decent college.

Teaching and call center xperience will not count in maximum cases. Teaching xperience will only count if u intend to join some other educational instt
