Guys I need a littlehelp here.

I just gave my 12th exams with 77% commerce.

I want to pursue BCA, then MCA

I have got into NSHM, Kolkata and MITSOM, Pune

Well i dont want to stay in kolkata and move to pune but i'm sure unsure how the college is. I'd been there for the interview and saw that most people coudnt even in english over there, even those who had come for admissions.
whereas there course structure has got commerce subjects as much as computers, whereas nshm kolkata has got only computer topics in syllabus. Affiliated to WHUT, and MITSOM to PU.

I've been staying in kolkata for quite some time and i am quite not comfortable with this place, whereas pune has got good oppurtunities.

Please help me making a decision, with honest reviews. I have not more than 5 days to decide.

Well, another problem,
Well this is a serious problem. My friend has just given her A-Level exams ending 11th this june. Results awaited in August.

her exams just got over, and now the dates in most of the colleges are gone. Having lost 2 years, she cannot even wait for the next year for admissions.

She wants to go for Ba/Bsc in Psychology. Can anyone please help out with what are the options available for her ?

Please help. Its about her life here .. No time ..

Will someone please enlighten me ..

1)Hey asim first of all I will like to confirm you that be rest assured your work-ex will be counted.:)
2)Now again if you go for MBA Marketing, yes will Pharmacist experience will be counted, but in the PI you will have to make the panelists understand, why MBA,or specifically why Marketing, and yes you can go for a Marketing Representative job,if you are disgusted with your current job,but I don't think,it will have much of an effect,I will suggest you to stick to your current job, gain a 2 year work-ex on the same, prepare well for the entrances and crack them.:)Hope this helps.
All the best, may the force be with you:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hello first of all,I will like to tell you a few things.I am also from Kolkata and I very well know NSHM,since it is 5 min.s from my place.

Well I am also a pas out of WBUT,& though I have done BBA(H),I have many friends who have done BCA from WBUT & even NSHM itself.Well the course structure of WBUT is good,if not excellent, also it is very student friendly, its easy to learn, and quiet a bit industry oriented, and I personally feel that since these are professional courses,so the course structure shall be like this only.

Another thing which I can assure you,you will get a good peer group here, specially much better than the ones you mentioned in MITSOM,I can say this since its near my place, and I see the students of NSHM everyday soo have a fair idea, also few friends of my locality have studied/are studying there (all in BCA only:))

But the disadvantage of WBUT specially in colleges like NSHM,is that you can't expect a good placement,so MCA is the only option left,& I see you are inclined to it too,so I guess that won't be much of a problem, also if you study in NSHM,you will be familiar with the WBUT syllabus, which will help you in giving JECA & get a good rank,to try for colleges like Jadavpur,Heritage,RCC etc.

Now coming to MITSOM,I don't have a good idea about its BCA,have heard its just an average college for MBA,but after listening from you it doesn't seem that it's very good, also if the peer level is like the ones you mention, its awful then. Also compare the course fees in both the colleges,I agree Pune have greater opportunities but then when MCA is your main aim, then I will suggest you to think twice before joining MITSOM,because you can anytime complete your BCA,& move to PUNE for MCA or job,or job post MCA.

I will also like to add that, don't take a decision in a hurry, its very important that what you study & learn in your grads also the degree that you get, just don't join MITSOM,because you are tired of living in Kolkata, think about the greater scenario i.e the future, consult with your parents, closed ones, mentors and take the decision.By the way,one thing I will like to mention which I forgot that yes, there is one advantage in MITSOM,is the degree you get.P.U is anytime more recommended that WBUT,but then again you said that the course structure there is noot impressive that's an issue.Actually these professional courses should be very much flexible, and that is the way its in WBUT.

Anyways I hope this post helped you a bit.:)All the best, for your future I am sure you will take the right decision.:thumbsup:If you need any help from me in future, you are always welcome.:D

Thanks Abhishek Thanks for your suggestion I will keep that in my mind and make a good decision

Hi,

I am Reecha. I have completed 3 years in an IT company and planning to work for an year or two more. I am at an Onsite location from past 9 months.

I want to do an MBA. I am simply confused what should I go for. CAT or GMAT? I wish to do my MBA from India. As I am not in India, I was thinking GMAT would be a good option. But as I went to look for B schools offering MBA and accepting GMAT score, I could see most of them want more than 5 years of experience and the ones that do not, did not offer great placements. So I came back to the question whether I should do MBA at all or not! I love what I do right now, I am great at my work! But I cannot be or rather I do not want to be in I.T all my life.

I need some kind of guidance!

Thanks,
Reecha

The answer to the question whether you should do an MBA or not is something that involves some effort on your end :). This is because the reasons for doing an MBA vary with different people. If you really like your job, then you should continue with it for now. MBA should become a priority when you feel stuck in your job or would like to move into a bigger or different role. Essentially since you already have a good work ex, your decision for doing an MBA should be guided by the necessity of the same.

As regards India or abroad, PG itself can help you analyze the different schools. There are a lot of factors that govern the choice of choosing a B-School. From salary to future prospects, fees to peers, give some time to understand the Indian as well as the foreign B schools and then see what fits into your future plans.
I have not been able to chalk out a plan to go about with the study materials. The date for CAT is fast approaching (Exactly 5 months left).
Is it too late for me to start preaparing for CAT 2010. Please suggest a plan. Any kind of useful reply will be welcome from anybody

ur pharmacy experience would actually help you in getting into drug making companies in campus placements..and they usually come to campuses looking for Marketing people..
so not only is ur work experience counted..it will also help you in campus placements..if you prepare well for CAT/CET..then its certainly better..however take this CAT too because you might get a decent percentile in this CAT itself..

you can change go for MR job also..they will help you in the same way...that is increasing ur value in the campus placements..

hope this helps..

Totally depends on how much you can wait and what you are willing to settle for. If you feel you can still wait for another year and do better than this year, by all means go for it, but do take into account the unpredictability that comes along with leaving a confirmed offer and trying again. Weigh the pros and cons properly and decide accordingly.

If i quit my job in the month at july end or august start...i ll b havin complete 1 yr+ experience....so after tht i ll b using 3 months for prep.+ 3 moths b4 the interviews...so i ll be havin gap of 6 months.....is this gap of 6 months very much questionable??

may be i am late for the reply, but for your case i would like to quote my example, i was working with a reputed psu, for which i got selected through campus placements, but i always wanted to do mba, so i left the job in april as i was not able to study after around 12 hour shifts on the floor, then i joined an ngo and worked till december and i went for five interviews, irma, ximb(rm), fore, lbsim and dse , cleared all of them except lbsim( the gd got me in this), and all the interviewers asked me as why i left my job, and my answer was simple i didnot enjoy it and there was no scope of learning and i would get stagnated if i donot go for further studies as the policies of the same psu for which i worked stated that you need to have a mba/relevant masters degree for getting promoted to the executive level.
the interviewer at irma even said that he thought i was stupid to leave a well paying /psu(sarkari) type job to pursue mba in such turbulent times, but my answer was same and i realised when the results came that he was just trying to cross me.

so the bottom line is know why you are leaving the job, justify it and say the truth, and never bring in the money factor into it that after mba you will earn more(i know you will not)..
all d very best

thanks thats the sort of a review I needed. So well the whole decision is .. That I will go for symbiosis if i get into it, or otherwise i will prefer NSHM over MITSOM. ?? ?
People say that MITSOM is the best in Pune for BCA. They even say that they are toppers in PU's bca. Like the 1st rank. You can check out their site. mitsomcollege, com . Is there anyone here who can give me a proper review on MITSOM ??

I am confused b/w 2 companies: Aricent & Samsung Electronics (mobile division) noida..which is better for freshers?
